The transport ship Montevideo Maru from WW II has been found by Australian maritime archeologist.

This is the biggest Australian loss of POW and civilians. All together she carried 850 soldiers and 210 civilians.

She was sunk by torpedoes from US submarine that had been following her.

Montevideo Maru was on her way from Papa New Guinea. She resting at 4000 meters depth.

It should be noted that POW ships usually had markings on them but this one didn't.  There are still questions as to why it didn't no answers.  And yes, Japan did use the markings but in later days near the war's end, apparently they stopped for some reason.
