Greetings to all fellow hobbyists! I am new to this forum and relatively new to the hobby. I was looking for a review of Billing Boats building slip #301 and #397.

Are they worth the cost or should I simply rely on a good carpenter's square or a set of small lego blocks for true bulkhead/keel unions?

Go with a good carpenter square or Lego blocks, I have been using both.
Save your money not buying the slip.
With the lego blocks you can clamp them as well.

Alternately, if you wander about the scratch area, you'll see that most just make their own building slip.   I originally had one of the Billings but it was really more trouble than it was worth limited in size so making a slip is simple and very satisfying once you sort out what's good and what's not needed.
