Creating a panel of windows and noted lots of varying opinions in the build logs on glue for acetate to wood (and definitely not CA glue due to clouding of acetate) and needed a definitive answer. I am sure that epoxy would work but want about contact cement?

Thanks!

You might try Duco Cement. This is nitrocellulose dissolved in acetone. It soaks into wood and makes a good bond, and it does adhere to smooth surfaces pretty well.

Of course you want to use small amounts and place them away from the window openings.

The warnings on the tube say to not use it on polyethylene or polypropylene plastics, but doesn't warn against use on acetate. But I expect it will craze the surface - that should make it adhere better.

You could dissolve some of the acetate in acetone and use this as liquid cement. If the wood surface is still raw, you can use this solution also as sealer, to which then the acetate should adhere well.
