and here are more pictures of the hull completely planked. It's also best when hull is completed so all the sanding you can before cutting it loose from the strong back....

Nicely done, Mario.
You appear to have quite a few partial frames there. I assume that's the same configuration as the original boat?

Thank You calt4 and tarbrush,
Tarbrush I just read over my thread again. My wife will be driving around town this week getting us ready for vacation. I noticed your remark, if you PM me with your address I still have the plans and instruction booklet, and I could mail them to you if you like sometime later this week. They are just sitting in a box so they won't collect dust....let me know..

NOTE THE PLASTIC CLAMP. IT WAS USED FOR THE PICTURE ONLY. THESE CLAMPS WILL NOT BE STRONG ENOUGH TO HOLD PLANKS IN POSITION AT THIS POINT IN THE BUILDING PROCESS...

Time to face up to the trickier part of the planking.....
using pins to stop wet plank lifting from the frame and perpetuating the clinker effect. Of course if I had followed the advice of Capn Rat Fink earlier I would have been putting a bevel (or chamfer ?) on each plank and tapered them off at the ends in a more methodical, calculated fashion......but the instructions just made it all look too easy !
Then I went for the Garboard plank.........
and now time to fill the gap for which had to glue two planks together:
but not a perfect fit. This has made me realise that I need to up my game a little. A perfect fit is not impossible....it is so wonderful to work with this soft basswood so it just takes a little more focus, a little more measuring perhaps, learning a few more tricks (like using masking tape to measure the gap - ). all good fun:
more tomorrow.

Hi Mario
I am really excited about your build log, you did a beautiful job! I was building this same kit a few years ago, when we moved cross country. all I have now is the mostly planked hull, the rest of the kit along with the plans and instructions went missing. I think I may be able to finish my model now by following your build log. Keep those photos coming please.

Hi Crackers and Thank You,
To answer your question i use windows paint, or when ever my wife lets me use her photoshop but she is always editing your pictures with it. So its mainly windows paint. Just open it, pick your picture click on the icon "A" and your ready. click any where on your picture and a box will open up and your ready to go, just add your texted. I also use it to size my pictures also to fit MSW format. I add the lines and boxes you see on my pictures.
I enjoy reading other logs but hate to read an explanation and then I have to shift my screen back n worth as I read and shift ot see the picture. I like to make my threads easy to read when they are looking directly at my pictures....I hope this helps you out. Just give it a try and just remember to "save as" then once you save you have the original picture and your new edited picture to.

Thanks John,
Got home tired from work and did not even look at my model. My little 1 yrs old g-daughter walked up to me and she had my external drive in her hands. How did she end up with i don't know. So I plugged it in to see what i have on it since i do not pay attention to it too much and suprise, i found that I still had to add 3 more of my builds from 1.0 to 2.0.....
So I was just sitting there like a lump of cheese aging, so what the heck started adding this log back in...Man I have a lot of pictures on this one. I did get a little crazy with the detail on this boat....

I FOUND THAT THE PLANKS COVERING THE FRAMES 1 AND 2 THE MOST DEMANDING AT THE STERN AREA. TO MAKE THEM FIT PROPER I HAD TO BEVEL THE PLANK ALREADY PLACED AND THE NEXT PLANK IN LINE...
QUESTIONS AND REMARKS ARE VERY WELCOMED
