Thanks for the tips, I think I might just look into getting a copy of that book.

Get a copy of McKay's Anatomy of the Ship. I built the Constructo Bounty (early version) several years back, and McKay was invaluable. Cheers

Welcome to MSW! Best of luck to you on your first build. Take your time, read far ahead into the build to make sure you don't overlook something and above all have fun!

I have been shortlisted for the role of director of the Trafalgar Way Trust and have to do a presentation at the East India Club in London on the 17th January to, amongst others, Sir Jonathan Band, ex-1st Sea Lord.
This is is an incredible opportunity and to make the presentation a bit special I am making a somewhat unlikely request: would anyone consider allowing me to employ one of your beautiful model ships in my presentation.
Should i I be successful in this process I intend to include the model making community in the activities of the Trust.
i am of course happy to explain more and give full details. I would not expect anyone to hand over a model but would invite you to join me at the club.
You can e mail me at mradampreston@icloud.com
with thanks

Hi,
I am german and currently working / living in Turkey. 53 years young and I love ships.
Schoner and Tallships my favorites, but I have as well a look on all old sailing vessels.
I made an apprenticeship as mechanical and a study as industrial engineer.
With some interruptions I am making ship models for 20 years.
Everytime with RC and from a kit.
Now I am trying on models based on drawing and without RC.
I enter in MSW to see, unterstand and to learn from you all.

Hi everyone,
I have been absent a few years. I just read the "Cautionary tale" story and it is a great one.
Let me first say, my disappearance was not due to taking on more than I can handle, not yet any ways,ha ha,,
I got distracted with other issues, hobbies and such. Then I was asked to build the constitution for theDistrict Atty, in my area,
He's a friend so I accepted, but being a novice, I decided to build the popular Revell 1/96 kit.
i was working on the uss syren blue jacket kit before I vanished, I got as far as planking and then the interruptions came.
So, it is possible I am one of the 12 mentioned ha, ha,,.
I started the constitution and that has been a long, and interrupted project too, Im rigging it now, and will post some pics of it in the plastic model forum.
Anyway, It is great to be back, I enjoy this website and when the plastic model constitution is done, I will get back to the Syren.
So Happy modeling everyone
Thanks!

Deno:
Had a childhood friend named Dennis - called him Deno.
Go to the main page here at MSW and click on the KIT BUILDS. In the upper right of the page is the word search with a magnifying glass symbol to it's right. Type in the Enterprise 1799 there and click onthe magnifying glass image. There will be various Enterprise build logs there to scroll through.

I'm sure there are many.....some may even be building a different model, that will be more than willing to lend a hand. you'll find that folks here are really nice. by looking in on similar projects, you'll get ideas on how to proceed. there are even tutorials that can break things down step by step...you can even find cool things on you tube. anyhow.....welcome to MSW. I hope you enjoy

Welcome Deno. It would be great to know your real name - you can add it in your profile.
Go to the Kit Builds section and do a search for "Enterprise 1799" and you will see several build logs by members who have built this same kit. Look at their builds and start one of your own and show your progress or ask for guidance if you have difficulty.
