Hello Len and welcome aboard,
Thanks for introducing yourself to us.
I wish you a happy retirement filled with fun and happiness. And lots of model building of course.
When your Emma C. Berry is ready, please share some photos of her in the gallery.
I'm sure you and your son will have a great time here.
Good luck with your next build and I wish you smooth sailing and happy modelling.
Kind regards,
Anja

Hiya all,
I signed up for NRG a couple of months ago, I was already 70% complete on my first wooden model, (Emma C. Berry, Model Shipways), hence no build log. I went in at the deep end after 6 months of plastic super hero figure modelling needing something more challenging. I had no idea how valuable the knowledge base was on this forum, but I am now a firm believer it is the only way to go. The latter portion of the Emma build was so much more fulfilling having such good reference logs to pour over.
Being recently retired time is not an issue so I have just purchased my second model, the Chaperon, again from Model Shipways, I really like the service I have received from those guys.
A build log will follow as soon as Mr. Mailman has delivered my blue box, very excited for that.
Great hobby, great site, great modelling to all.
All the best, Len.............
P.S. to Anja,
Rossi46 a.k.a. Emerson, I'm the one to blame for the weird name, I'm his dad!

Hi Jim welcome aboard from another fairly new member - Glue marks on canopy's and windscreens are how I discovered fingerprints as a kid. Seriously though I hope you find as I have that there isn't another site with the expertise and generosity to share as you'll find from the guys here. Cheers Pete

Welcome Jim,
I suspect all of us are of the phylum porifera when it comes to soaking up information so are not at all alone.

Welcome to MSW Jim! I think getting glue on the windshields of our first model cars is a problem that plagues all of us as kids.
That is a great kit to start with and as you have already found out, the build logs on here will be a great help to you. Have fun looking around the site and "sponging" up all the useful information on here. I will recommend starting a build log though. When you hit those tougher spots and have questions, the logs are a great place to get answers as we can see what you are struggling with and provide better answers. Good luck to you on your first ship build. I hope you enjoy it as much as all the other models you have done!

Hi my names is Jim Freday, I'm 63 years old and have been model and trying to get it right every since I was 7 and got glue all over the windshield of my first model car build. I sent 20 years in HO Model Railroading, the trains never really ran because I was to busy building HO Scale building everything from Outhouses to Factories, some that took almost a year to build. I donated all those building to a local club when I moved across the country. The last 10 years have been spent racing HO T-Jets from the 60's, agin playing around in that scale minuture world, and Modeling Wooden Ship is always been a bucket list thing for me. I have a passion for a very narrow time in history the "French and Indian War" and when I saw Chuck Passaro 18th Century Longboat 1750-1760 I figured "I got to start some where" so I did and it was somebody from Model Expo told me to check you guys out. I dont know how much you will be hearing from me, at this stage I'm just going to trying to be a sponge.
In poking around the site I saw Chuck Passaro build of his Longboat, this is going to be a big help to me!
