Hi Elia -- yes, thats ARETHUSA in the background at the request of the client who commissioned the piece. I was fortunate to have access to Eric R's exceptional model in the Mystic Seaport collections. Can't find how to attach a photo of it here but i'll keep trying. I have lots of them if you think it would be helpful to you. Note the model is deliberately 'weathered', as though she just finished a busy season. Have detail shots of the masts too which show a very uneven finish due to the hoop wear. Best to e-mail me at russ@russkramer.com directly.

Hi Ella -- Thought you'd like to see the painting I did last fall of ARETHUSA with a hard working crew aboard aother fishing schooner in the foreground. Keep up the good work on the model and thanks for the added inspiration. Best, Russ

Great model Omega! Just finished a painting of Dorade which is on Exhibition at Mystic Seaport. You can see it here: http://www.russkramer.com/ Referenced a great book on her: "Dorade:History of an Ocean Racing Yacht" now out of print. Best of luck, Russ

Thank you, Elia and Michael...look forward to the model progress. I'll post an image of the painting when I'm done. Best wishes, Russ

Hi Elia, I have been commissioned to paint a substantial oil of ARETHUSA by an enthusiast, and your model of her and all the photos you have posted to date will be extremeely helpful. Thank you! Your work is magnificent. I have the good fortune of living here in Mystic, CT and, being close to the staff at the Seaport collections, willl have good access to Ronnenberg's model as well. I specialize in yachting history, and always try to emphasize the human side of being on the water, and this historic fishing scene will be a first for me. Of course this subject has inspired many others before me, most notably Tom Hoyne who did such fine work, but I will strive to do something unique. You can see my paintings at www.russkramer.com if you are interedted. Anyway, I will be following your progress eagerly and congratulations on such impressive work. Best, Russ Kramer

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
