  1. Dubz, I too have built a Confederacy kit except for completing the ships boats. This is my first model ship build and the kit was chosen because of the very good instructions. I had to read them very carefully, soon it was discovered that it is impossible to use the flat drawing of the plan for exact measurements on a 3d object. I have found that if the planking locations are taken from the reference lines on the bulkheads, they seem to work out pretty well. In my opinion, this was a very high quality kit. Just my 2 cents worth Chizelguy
  2. Augie, I am not very computer savvy, so am a bit bashful about a build log. If the model gets completed I may arrange for some pictures. Pete
  3. Augie, I have been following your Confederacy project and enjoying it very much. You are doing high quality craftsmanship and taking excellent photos. I am building the same model so your tips and advice are very helpful. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing. Chizelguy Pete
  4. Rusty, I just read your Confederacy log. What a fantastic build, really enjoyed all those super pictures! Just started my confederacy kit and will refer to your work often. Thanks so much for sharing. Chizelguy Pete
  5. Augie, I just ordered my Confederacy kit a couple weeks ago, and am anxious for arrival. I am an old airplane guy also. Hope this kit isn't over my ability. Your construction series really got me stoked ! Thank you for sharing. Pete

About the NRG

If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.

The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.

The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
