A little more progress this time on Dafi's resin Anchors and Knights head.

First the Anchors, there are three types(sizes),not much trouble here assembling, some sanding and filing.

Later when all ok, will spray black and make brass rings fettered, plus 1mm plastic strip for binding.

Next it was the Knights head, this is the basic shape after sanding and making sure it fitted the bowsprit.

A clearer picture of the additions of Dafi's brass etchings and some brass rod.

Just some brass rod supports for fixing and to spray black.

Again a very good fit and will be better than the bits from Heller.

Got carried away from my last post and missed showing some pictures.

Made up the soup tray's that hang around the stove, plus a kettle(very Important)

The Brody Stove near finished, you can see the fire in the grates here, plus the kettle hanging above the fire grate.

from the stern of the stove is were the hot water from the two water tanks above were vented.

Next shows the stove and pantry as it should look.

Also at this time I took a look at the side galleys, added the floor and seats of rest.

    More soon.

    Thanks Daniel shipmate.

Ok unshipped the guns from this deck(middle) added wood dowls to the base from Keiths suggestion for secure fitting.

    Drilled and glued inplace.

Next its a test fit of the upper deck, all seems well.

still some work on the stern, but want to finish up to the quarterdeck before finishing the outer hull properly.

    Atmospheric view.

Having a break for my trip to the US, so more soon folks.

    Hi Keith shipmate.

    Yep she is coming along.
The table and chairs up and in use.

The round one is for ether the Captains or Admirals quarters, maybe have to make two.
Fixing cannons and not knocking them off the decks I see is a problem, well with the ropes plus sanding off the base of the truck wheels might help with fixing to the decks.

Brass added to give better strength on the bowsprit. For the rope/blocks later.
With wood and brass and lots of advice, this should work well.

    Thanks Keith and Jan.

    Well not quite yet Jan.

    Lots to do yet.

Swab the deck , plenty for the carpenter to be getting on with.
The mast I test fit all the time, to make sure all is ship shape as I go along.

Using shot for fishing for the shot garlands, sliced in half.
    Water buckets.

Table and chairs for the officers quarters.

Well moved on a touch with the blocks etc.

As promised have cleaned up and added blocks to the lookout tops, not sure if the Mizzen mast has these blocks beneath, cannot find any ref to them in my books.
But the Heller kit has three holes each side for them.

Also added the Syen double blocks to the main and fore yards.

Also added the Bluejackets white metal twin blocks.

    More later.

Well its on again with the fiddle blocks now strung and ready for use.

Then found a use of the Scale Warship resin heart blocks.

These are ideal once strung and painted for the bow sprit.

Once fixed and a paint these are ready for the next stage.

    Just right for 1/100 scale.

On the subject of Heart blocks, made a big boob with Syren closed heart blocks, so have ordered some more , get it right next time around(tells one's self to read the instructions)

Cheers Keith mate, A happy New year to you and your family.
Still on the crest and crown for this ship.
Using Daniels etched parts for the crown and wording.

First filled in the Heller Plastic part of the crown using Plastic putty, great stuff this and lasts and lasts.

Used round head pliers for the crown top.

Once crown fixed to crest started painting.

Still to finish lions on the crest, plus the lettering.

Well time to show the inners of the hull to get the right thickness.
I used evergreen plastic and maple wood for the inside planking.

At the same time worked on the lower deck planking

This deck come's in two parts, glued both together.
The planking is wrong as the joins should be three to four planks apart.
My first mistake, till I took advice, but as its a deck you will not see I will put it down to learning about planking.

Finished deck, then its test fit to hull.

Note the maple fitted to lower deck.

Next was spraying a primer for plastic and brass.

Drilled- cut out the two for'd windows.

Seems the primer is good for resin too.

Great work on the crown, Foxy. Plus, I love your work on the blocks (single, double, fiddle, and closed hearts). If you do not mind me asking, what size rigging rope are you using... I had to buy some micro drill bits (.2 - .5mm) in order to thread some of the blocks..

I disagree with Foxy - get them as tight as you can or the ratlines will be very difficult to tie (assuming the model HAS ratlines??).

Going back to your question on the previous page, and Mark's answer which you may have missed, there are usually Chainplates which attach the deadeyes to the channels and are bolted to the hull underneath the channels. These do the work of carrying the tension of the shrouds. The channels merely hold the deadeyes outboard from the hull, and the tension on them is toward the hull, not upward, so you don't need to worry about the shrouds pulling them upwards.

The pic below shows the Channels, Chainplates and Shrouds on my Vulture - the chainplates on your ship will be different as they are much more "modern" but you can see the basic principles involved :

I have had a one step forward and two back / 10 back today

I have moved my attention to the Bowsprit, whilst waiting for other bits to arrive. I made / attached fittings with the vauge instructions and also vauge plan. Plan only show 6 of the rope guide blocks no 296, I suspected 9, which I looked at other images on the net and found there to be 9 on other builders models, ok so I fitted 9 rectangle blocks, job done.
NO NO, I have a book you see THE ANATOMY OF A SHIP THE HMS VICTORY which I ( in error) forgot to look at prior to all my work. Yep I have to start again, there is actually 15 blocks and there also shaped and positioned differently to the kits position.
Also the kits Bowsprit fairleads no 300 are fitted at a 90 degree angle to the bowsprit which is another thing I found incorrect after fitting, these Fairleads are angled up 45 degrees which requires a reshape also a reshape of the blocks below no 301. Why get these wrong Constructo, surely not to make it easier as its not difficult to recreate the parts correct way.

I hope the images show this, I still need to fit my 3 remaining top blocks. and also a couple of brass reinforcement bands not to mention fittings to complete.

Well, spent the day making the brackets thinner, this was done in situe and took well, a while. The kits supplied brackets if used really need putting on a diet also, mine were the same thickness initially as the ones provided in the kit and I felt they Looked far to chunky.

One of the heart blocks on the bowsprit.

Next a start on the crown that goes a top the crest on the bow.

Using the plastic base from the kit, filled in the corners and next will add the PE parts.

Note the lettering that will adorn the crest once this is painted.
