Hello everyone, well, as I have mentioned a few posts ago, the only thing left for me to do before closing this build log is a few final pics.  Out of the roughly 50 pics I took yesterday I picked only nine.
I want to thank everyone for following this build and your encouragement.  A special thanks to those who gave me advice and assistance in procuring photos, drawings and hardware like  Gino, Remco, Amateur Jan, Mark T.  If I missed anyone, please forgive me, I have thanked you on the spot in one of the earlier posts.

I will monitor this log for a short while and respond but please keep it on topic.  If you have questions send me a PM and I'll answer to the best of my ability.

I have really enjoyed doing this build with all of you looking over my shoulder.  Your friendship I will treasure and hopefully I'll see you all again in my VOC ship dockyard.

Hey Popeye, nice piece of work on the planking !!!  Bravo.   Yes, lacquer doesn't like humdedity.  When I was painting airplanes in New Jersey I had to use a retarder when spray painting, which is not really that good for the durability of the paint but one has to do what one has to do.
Other then that, I do like the end result with lacquer though, 16 coats hand rubbed !!!  Although it's now superseded by much better paints.

You gonna buy some more of that lovely lumber?  It really makes the model outstanding.

Hello Ed, I have been silently following and admiring your build.  A note of interest on mineral spirits.
As an artist (among many other things) using oils and now also permanent museum quality colored pencils I use Gemsol.  Yes, some makes of colored pencils can be softened with mineral spirits and use it like tempera paint.
This is a truly odorless mineral spirit that dries up clear and leaves no residue.
It's not cheap $16.99 for one pint (473ml), but I don't use it a lot, so it last me a long time.

Nenad, when the ship is completed there will be so much "stuff" to look at that these few minor imperfections will not be noticeable.  Continue on and don't fret about it, I think you have done a most outstanding job.

Get well Doris. Your tackling the mods is admirable and a lesson to all of us - try to stick with authenticity. Sometimes we can fudge but with those major design flaws it's better to redu things.
