Hi everyone, Been gone from my project here for long while... My apologies, I have a daughter that Graduated from College with a double Major "Neuroscience and Psychology" she makes me very proud, been a quick trip there helping her with college a ton of 12 hour days to boot! well any way I'm planning to finish the Blue Nose Build here now that I have time, just need to set up my room up again settling in here!

For the past couple days i have been Planking the Bluenose,the planking is coming along pretty good, and pretty even so far. I'm trying to take my time with this because I want this to go on as even as possible.
I am planking each side as I go to keep from have a WOW effect (warping of Hull) to the ship
as you can see this is going on pretty even on each side

Today I started on my first ship build "The Bluenose I", I recieved the kit on September 10 2015. It is the kit from Model-Expo the 1/64 scale MS2030. I am excited to get started... I started with putting the keel together, there are three pieces that make up the keel with this kit that needs to be assembled and set over night for the glue to cure, then putting a bearding line and a rabbit line that needs trimming/cutting.. as of now the keel is sitting glued together till tomorrow, I'll try to keep up with photos as I build her.
I would appreciate any and all comments as I keep up with building, so please give me all helpful tips and comments.

HAHA Erik, I was the same yesterday... So I put the pieces is a small sturdy box in my lunch box and took mine to work to do a little sanding.

and also I have been using weldbond glue in a rather large bottle that seemed to hinder my progress...
The nozzle on the top was a too big and I always kept getting more on the project than I needed. So my wife had went out and purchased a small bottle with a longer thinner nozzle. I tell you what it sure help make the glue process allot better and less of a mess. here is a pic of the bottle with glue added to it
She was watching for few minutes and replied " you need something better than that big bottle "
then she disappeared for about an hour then came in with this bottle!

Today I purchased some more clamps, And I will be using the Black binder clips also purchased today, as Nirvana is using on his "18th century Long Boat" I'll use them to aid in the planking of the Bluenose here.
Those of you curious about the "18th Century Long Boat Group Project" please check it out there is allot of talent there, I was learning allot just reading some the build logs.

Hi guys, I'm back... I was working 12 hour days for the past straight 21 days, along with General Motors sending me to Robotics Classes the last two weeks. I will be resuming my Bluenose build here. In a day or so.
I did start on some planking but only gotten a couple pieces on.
If anyone can give a few ideas or tips it will be appreciated, I will be trying the ideas out, as they are helpful!
But the good news is my wife is home from Indonesia, and was surprised I started a new change in models...
I was looking at the forums and seen the "HMS Vulture Dan V. Built", all I can say is WOW. All the Talent, and knowledge of all people here on this web site is incredible... I really want to start plank on frame builds pretty badly now. I think its better to at least build some of easier builds to work my way there. I have been searching on the net at work finding more info on Swan Class sloops, and have a good idea what I want to build when it come that time to start POF builds.

As this is my first wood ship model, I was always building "Plastic Model Kits".
So far wooden ship building is more challenging, also seems to help me relax, and having to think more in advance too.
I work alot and while at work I find my self thinking about the ship constantly thinking what needs to be done next. what steps should I take to do the tasks needed to be done.
Today I have givin up on plastic kits and now prefer the wood ships instead. Now Im constantly looking on the internet for the next ship after the Bluenose to build so I can work and learn my up to scratch building.

Today I finished putting in the 2 blocks at the aft of the ship, and also put in 2 small pieces to reinforce the aft section...
But as I started to get ready to do some planking work I noticed that a couple bulk heads were not level at the deck, I may have to correct this so I dont get a funny looking wow effect to the deck! any ideas as to how or what I can do to fix this? I appreciate any help!

Today I tried to finish up on rear of the ship, but only done one part of the rudder area... as I no longer have my scroll saw, I went out to get another. I purchased a Porter Cable Scroll saw. here are some pics of what I was working with. the block of wood is a part that needed to be cut and shaped to rear of ship.
I did not get to start on block of wood because I dont have my scroll saw no more and but I got another.
Pic from booklet the part labeled as "Block" is what I needed to cut and shape.
The block of wood that needs to be cut in two and shaped for the back of ship.
The section of rudder that needed to be done.
Clamped till set/dried.

@Nirvana Thanks for your kind welcome, the paint set your asking about is a complete set of testers paint and I also have about 90 percent of Model Masters paint set from testers also.

Today did as DBorgens suggested, put pieces of ply on Keel, then cut my rabbit/bearding, and then assembled the keel and Bulk heads.
Now as I was reading the forums and reading the booklet and also looking at the prints, I was starting to feel a little intimidated from knowing I had to cut a Rabbit and bearding, but as I thought as how I was going to do this I started to feel a little confident, as a thought came to me thinking heck what do I have to lose this is why I started on the Bluenose and joined the NRG... It was to learn and to learn to make display models so I jumped in and went to town, I was proud that the cutting turned out ok and wasn't as hard as I thought.
Tomorrow I'll attack the aft assembly and also put some more reinforcment in as DBorgens suggests.
