    Good morning Sherry

just reclaimed my seat in the audience, it needed a bit of a dusting, and was covered in popcorn, sjors must have been around recently but i sat on it anyway,
It was lovely and inspirational to catch up on your build again, i do so like the open stern gallery,
LOL i hope it rains again soon so your work can progress again

    @ Sam,

The copper gnomes are a little busy.
But they can not work without my supervising......
    Easy as it goes.....
    And the law is pffffffffff?
    Don't say that to a judge !

    @ Sherry,

Thank you for your nice comment       pfffffffff
It's something what everyone is saying....if you don't like it, change it !
Anja is talking the same, it looks good why changing ?????
I've change it and that is enough
    9 days off , how do I count .
Take the first Saturday and count till the next Sunday.
When you have more then 5 days off, you may count the other 4 days to complete a week
    Then you have nine days.
I can count like this because I'm working also the weekends.
But beware ! this is only for the working class !
Those who are retired can count what ever they want.
9 days for a week, 90 days for a month, 900 days for a year ect ect ect.

    @ Robert,

I thought I can hide what I was doing at the Batavia......
    Nice picture btw !
You have a nice day over there ?

And because it is still a build log and we are going on a side kick a picture off what I have done.
The first few copperplates are on it !
I like it much better !
This is the way I wanted it !!!

Sjors, It's been a while since I checked on your progress. I stop by and what do I see?  Lovely copper plates on the hull and then pffffffffffff, copper plates gone from the hull! And they say women are always wanting change!
Seriously though, I thought the plates looked really good, but I also know that if your not completely satisfied with them, then you'll be glad later on that you changed it and made it better.
    Now.......pictures please

Oh, and I'm trying to figure out how I can get one of those 9 day weeks off.

I decided to add on the bow also the seats of ease, I found inspiration also here:

As my opinion the bow grating looks better now. I know that the bars should be embedded into slots, but at this stage of progress with many delicate details around it was very difficult to remake the grating and make it accurate.

    Best regards,
    Doris

    Hello dear friends,
I feel so honored and pleased reading your posts. Thank you very much for you kind words and support, that is a great motivation for me and also a commitment to continue with my work as best as I can.

Well, for me it is easier to make pins from two parts, cause I have no lathe or other suitable tools , that can facilitate the work. First I was a bit afraid of their strength, but it is O.K. After gluing into the plank the pins are very strong.

I am glad, you like it. In future I am going to make other videos "how to do" . I believe, this is a better than description using words.

Well dear friends, during this weekend I have decided to remake a grating on the bow, cause the first version did not match reality at all. I found a lot of perfect inspiration here at MSW, so I try to improved my model. Here are the pics from process:

This is a previous version (I have to say that I did not like it)...

And this is a sketch of how I wanted to do:

So I have started with disassembling, I use debonder and must be very careful and patient....

And here you can see left side almost finished:

Finally a bit of an update!
First photo shows some shaped pieces at the bow. In my eagerness to finish and install these and the fancy trim overlay, I forgot to take pictures and these pieces are virtually hidden now!

Next up were the catheads and trim, made from basswood square stock.

I used copper sheet to cut strips and fashion the brackets that hold the catheads down.

    Everything is assembled.

Then installed on the model. I used copper wire to simulate bolts.

Here's a bow shot with catheads installed and bow braces and trim pieces.

This picture shows the copper brackets blackened with liver of sulphur. I used EdT's method of soaking them in acetone first, to clean and remove any coating that may have been present. Then I dipped a small paint brush in dilute liver of sulphur and applied to the brackets in situ, followed by a water rinse - it worked like a charm!

    Just a slightly different angle.

    That's it for now.

    Another small update.....

New additions include the vertical strips of wood on the hull mid-ship. I'm not sure of the name or function of these timbers, but I'm wondering if they could be for protection of the hull when the lowering of the ship's boats?

Also added are more ornamentation pieces, such as the eagles and the piece at the top of the gallery door.
Now to make these same pieces for the port side.

The gun port liners are almost done, but to break up the monotony I started working on the decorative frames for the upper gun ports. The starboard side is finished and I'm almost finished the port side.

Four more stern decorations have been added. The little figures with the dolphins are not much bigger that my thumb nail and I think I may be permanently cross-eyed now from working on them!

I have a little bit of an update today. I believe these parts are called quarter badges...correct me if I'm wrong.
The first pictures show them underway, and then installed on the ship and painted.
