Frist I had some problems to make the bricks. I tryed to model they from wood, but that looks like firewood for the fireplace. At last I remembered a forgotten box with restovers from railway modelling long time ago. And in it I found three varietys of brickwall paper. Exactly what I was looking for.

And this is the coloured fireplace. I did use Oxid of Chromium (green) Raw Sienna and Van Dyk Brown. As a friend of mine ( his is an restorer himself) says are this colours which are used for such decorations in the baroque.

@aviaamator: the right diameter should be 1,5277 mm. First I have made the handle from 1,6mm brass. But that doesn't look good to my eyes, therefore I have made it from 2mm

We had a wonderfull Christmas Evening and Christmas Day with our children and six grandchildren. And so its good to grandfather to relax some times in the dockyard before the next celebration will start in the evening.

Now some pictures from modelling the fireplace.

Tomorrow I will look for the right colour. It will be a specuial green.

Many centuries watertransport was the fastest and most comfortable way of traveling on the coasts and along the big rivers in Europe. By towing with horses along the rivers and canals. By sail across the open waters.

The statenjacht was the Rolls Royce of this passenger ships. Used to move fx company executives or other VIPs from place to place to execute their jobs.

It was the time of the Barroque. So this ships were fitted out with most comfortable state cabins, bedrooms, kitchens, and last but not least magnificently decorated.

At first I had in mind to build the HMY Mary from 1670. Only her decorations and paintings were very complicated.

The Utrecht, however, seems to me a bit simpler decorated. Moreover, in the books of Seawatch books are very good plans of this ship.

I build the Utrecht in scale 1:36. As POF model. However, I'm doing the frames of10mm plywood. Since the frames are not seen through the planking, solid wood is too good for this job in my eyes.

    Some shots from yesterday.

    Build log part 29

    I`m continuing with the build......
Today a trial is made for doing the scoop-typ vents. I found some staggered sizes of nickle-galnanized tin sheet. These usualy are mounted as foot / stand buttons to shopping bags. Together with short lengths on different diam. brass tubing (soft soldering) the can be transformed into  nice looking nostalgic vents. The fastening strips have to be removed from the buttons first. The radial hole for the tube is drilled into the side of the button and the grinded to suit the fit for soldering

The first and smallest prototype for the two forecastle vents is made in rough version. Will probably mount a "rivited skin" to the tube and two handles for setting to the airflow. There must be round about 100 vents in all sizes on this ship

Feel the taste of white glue!

Filling process started. Layer of pieces of BBQ strips, layer of white glue, next hole, repeat, next hole ....

Deep holes, as black holes, swallow everything I put inside, so testing piece which I use to spread pieces and check progress did not show anything going forward

    Patience, Nenad, patience
