Ah, well, getting blind, I guess.......
Thanks anyhow

There used to be a button 'report this post'.
Am I overlooking it in the new lay-out, or has it vanished?
(I was looking for it, as a Russian guy tries to sell us cannabis-seeds, which - as far as I'm concerned - has nothing to do with the core-business of this site)

the SPLINTERS..........
Yet another small update. Planking on the starboard side is almost finished, no more walnut for a while. Just a few remaining strakes on the upper works, but I will leave that for now,I don't want the unguarded tops of the planks to get mashed when I'm working on the port side.
I've only given this side of the hull a rudimentary sanding as yet. Still a lot of cleaning up to do, as well as evening up the ends of the planks.
Anyway, I'm still happy with the way things worked out, not entirely happy with the kit, but that's another matter.
Hmm.... port side looks rather naked...

amateur reacted to KennyH78 in H.M.S Triton Cross Section by KennyH78 - FINISHED - 1:48
got quite a bit done in the shipyard today. the outer hull is finished up with all of the trim, fenders and steps. the top sail bitt is installed and all of the blocks for rigging the guns are made. I have also installed and rigged 2 of the guns. I just need to coil up the ropes. tomorrow I hope to finish up the guns and start working on the gangways. I also need to start thinking about a case for this cross section and decide which project will be next; the USF Raleigh (Hahn plans and timber from the Lumberyard), the Model Shipways Confederacy kit or the POB version of the HMS Triton full build. I'm leaning towards the Raleigh, only because it has been on the shelf for a couple of years now.
anyways, here are the pictures. any comments and/or critiques are always welcome.

My four year build log has alas fallen victim to the latest system upgrade, and like the ship she represents is now presumed lost, as Pegasus was in 1777.
To re-instate all the information contained within the orginal log which ran for over 100 pages is a bit of an ask but where I can pick up the information quickly I will include it in this replacement log with priority being given to specific aspects where I have modified the basic kit, to produce the model which is now allbut finished.
My log which was first posted in 2013 lacked much of the earlier stages of the build which had been going since 2010, and this revision will include aspects of the earlier build stages which may assist those embarking on a new Swan build adventure.
I would like to thank all those members who have shown interest in my build over the past four years, and for the many appreciative comments and 'likes' I received. I still can't believe that over 257,000 visits were made to the log, but it is nice to think that it was of use to the membership.
Also thank you to those who have messaged me with kind words about the loss of the original log, and with offers of help.
Hopefully this revised version, risen from the ashes, will continue to provide useful information to the membership, particularly those involved with Swan Class Sloops.

Hi Drazen,
Looks good.
Next the keel, and sternpost, before attaching the last two (or three) planks. Planking almost done
(for those who didn't realize: in these Dutch ships, all planks end in the rabbet in the sternpost, apart from the lower two (or three) that are running all the way to the aft end of the sternpost.)

You made it an alternative frame, sounds sensible

Nice truck!
but the wood quality differs quite a lot, yes.
I have this cross section on my wishlist, but I am looking for materiales that are to be handled without too many powertools, and that aren't not too expensive (I expect quite a lot redundancy, due tobeginners errors....)

Two tips from my own practice:
Whenfairing your frames, make sure you go all teh way: the plank should make contct everywhere, most of the time that implies that the whole charring on the outside has gone when you're finished
Second: dont start a new plank on the frame, but in between, and glue a part of wood behind the connection, that way, there will be a smoother run of the plank.

what wood did you use for the deck-beams: is it basswood?

I asked, while everyone keeps saying that basswood will never llok crisp.
I just started to wonder, as these beams (at least in the pictures) look rather crisp to me
