  1. Sorry Radek, but I disagree again. I have a proof, you maybe know. There´s a Langweil´s model of Prague made of cartoon which still exist. Is 200 years old, and is in the perfect condition. You can find it on the net. I know, I also had a lot of paper models which are definitely lost. But I was young and I didn't know anything about how to care for models. If any model will be in care it will last a very long time, 300 - 400 years, and more, be sure. But I have to give you the truth - paper models will never be wooden😭 Jan
  2. All of cannons are placed. It takes me quite a lot of time to create right gun carriages on the upper decks due to mistakes I made during the construction of decks a long time ago. Now I will try to rig them 🙄I hope I will succeed and it won´t take half of year ( or the whole year 😁). Jan
  3. Let me to disagree a bit. My oldest paper ship model is 18 years old, is not in the showcase ( as all of my models ) and is without any changes. I think it will last for a long time. But it is true that by my way of gluing and impregnation I actually produce paper plywood ( four layers of paper planking...😁)
  4. Mistakes....untidinesses.... where ? Ab, I´m still in awe what you can do. With deep respect. I still have to learn a lot. Jan
  5. Just a small update... more cannons😁 There are seven sizes of cannons on the ship now, but the difference is hardly to see. When I wil have more time, I´ll take a picture of them together. Jan
  6. Perfect picture, Ab👍 And you´re right about the Dutch, here is the proof... I think everyone knows it. British can say whatever they want ( sorry British ) Jan
  7. AVBiker: thanks😉 I started with cannons, as I mentioned. Now I used the Mc Kay´s book as the source for creating of 3D model of each type of cannon. I printed them on the resin 3D printer and I was more than satisfied. It´s possible to make them from paper, but this is more accurate method. At first I made 20 pieces of cannons of the largest caliber ( type cannon drake or cannon of 7 drakes ), 10 pieces on each side at the bottom gun deck, ports 3 to 12. BTW, you may have noticed that I cut out the missing gunports on the lower deck on the bow😁 Jan
  8. Thanks friends for your replies 😉 I´m still doing the decoration, and I´m very close to finish. I placed some small parts, but there is so much decorations, that you can´t see there some changes😁 And the galion figurehead is placed, finally. There are catheads and gun carriages paced into the ship. I´ll start with the armament very soon. Jan
  9. I´m still sitting in a front row, Steven, and I´m still absorbing all of informations👍 When I built Sao Gabriel ( Seahorse ), I also eliminated the side gunports. In those days, there was a different battle tactic ( remember the Mary Rose, how many longbows vere foud....and this was several decades later than Lomelina´s days ) Jan
  10. AVBiker: I know your buildI, I found it and studied it all on the SOS forum 😉. It's much better than mine is, but whatever... I do what I can..... Decoration of the aft is finished. Some small parts on the bow are added too ( don´t be afraid, there will be holes for anchor cables 😁) Only a few parts of the decoration are missing, It's about time, I haven't been doing anything else for a year and a half. I hope I will start with the armament at the end of the year. Jan
  11. Thanks, friends, for your nice words and likes😊 I´m still continuing, piece by piece. Some parts of decoration above the upper parts of gunports are done, some corbels and most of the decoration on the top of the stern. I don't even count the hours or the number of parts I made anymore... Jan
  12. But not on the Mary Rose. The main channel on the Mary Rose is well preserved and there´s nothing like this.
  13. The bottom row of the galion decoration is finished. Only small details an the galion figure are missing on the bow. Jan
  14. Thanks friens for your likes👍 Bill Morrison: Thank you. But I think you are confusing me with Doris, my ship is only as you see it. There is still a long way to finish. Here is the proof of the belfry. It is clear visible on the engraving. You can see three of four sculptures holding coats of arms - they are in the red circles, Fourth is hidden on the other side. There is a roof of the belfry in the yellow circle. There´s a person wearing something on his back in front of it all - it's confusing at lower resolution. If I´m wrong, please correct me. Jan
  15. Thanks a lot, friends. Baker: My build and your incredible built of the Mary Rose.... these are two different worlds😉 Hubac´s Historian: Organized and methodical ? Maybe yes, maybe not. There are a lot of models of SOTS where can i can get inspiration from. I hoped the Mc Kay will be the solution, but this is only partially. But - there are a lot of big mistakes in the book, Mc Kay, which I showed you before and I show you soon. But - on the other side - a lot of parts are well done. 72Nova - Thank you a lot😊 I made just the lantern, sorry for that small piece of work. And I finally know, where the belfry is. I will show you soon, it´s clearly visible on the engraving, H
  16. Perfect, as always. My hat off👍I had that model, I know how large it is, and I'm still in awe of what you can do with this small piece. Jan
  17. Thank you very much for your likes 😊 I improved the shape of galion ( remember, It´s 13 years old hull, I was kind of in a hurry then😁 ), I had to make a shape as on the Payne´s engraving ( and now I can add another row of decoration correctly ). And I start with the decoration of the aft finally.
  18. Nothing special, just another part of decoration. Still the same since last october🙄 Jan
  19. Thank you all for your comments and likes 😊 Another parts of the decoration added. Just one notice: I wanted to start to make the decoration according to the Mc Cay´s book - but I couldn´t, check it with the engrawing. So I started to make parts based by Payne. I noticed it in several cases the pictures in the book are sometimes a mix of both authors . Jan
  20. Another part of the decoration added. And then the sun came out....look at the last photos, it must have been a breathtaking sight at sea in this weather. Jan
  21. Unbelievable....... incredible what you can do with that little model. My hat off. Jan
  22. GrandpaPhil: Thank you, I'm still working on it while I can ( In the summer I will slow down, be sure ) Jan
  23. This is a very quick progress, the ship looks very good ! Jan
  24. Baker: thank you, Patrick. I made another part of the decoration. And as I said it goes very slowly... but if I count correctly, there are more than 500 pieces of gilded parts on the ship already... and this is just one quarter.... Jan
