  1. I totally agree! I tried the Union a few years ago, to see if modelling was something for me but gave up. I then found out that The Swift was a far better model to start with (thanks to this forum). I have finished it and I'm half way building the Lady Nelson, which is a good choice for a second build. But still....even if it was failure, it got me interested. A learning experience after all ;)

  2. Brendan White? I got mine from him as well! Went to his house near Eindhoven in Holland a few years  ago, met him,  played a few and bought one. Double skin and tunable. Great guy, Brendan!

My little band of Irish wannabees are going to play at an Irish whiskey tasting event in a few weeks. Free drinks for us!!!

As for building, I'm still busy trying to finish the Lady Nelson. The Syren is waiting for me on the shelf. I'm enjoying and appreciating your build. Good learning  for me.

  3. I'll be sneaking and peeking in as well, if you don't mind. Syren will be my next build. I'm deck planking the Lady Nelson at the moment, so ït will take some time yet for me to finish her. But it'll be interesting how your build will go. A learning opportunity for me :) Have fun!

BTW, I got a replacement set of the plywood after mailing them. Great service!

England sounds great. I am there oft.... you have to visit HMS Victory in Portmouth and then is Cutty Sark in Greenwich. That is If you still havent.

Not to forget the frigate HMS Trincomalee in Hartlepool (just under Newcastle)! I have just returned from a holiday in SW of the States. I also visited the HMS Surprise (Rose)in San Diego. Great experience! Unfortunately (for me, but not for the ship) part of her was unaccesible to public because of repairs/maintenance. Still, just standing on her deck and feeling her moving in the light swell in the harbour is one thing I'm not likely to forget for a long time :)
