Fighting tops repaired and new holes drilled with no trouble. I used wood from my stash that is very good quality. I noticed on Jesse Lee's Syren he doubled up the trim where the rails go. I'm going to double mine up also.

The fighting top rims splintered while drilling the holes for the deadeyes. I will now rebuild the damaged rims.

Well, ready for the next set of photo's. Chapter 13 is almost finished. The bowsprit bits isn't glued in yet, but I guess it's ok for the photo's while it's in it's position drying. My main problems have been in getting a consistent finished timber look. I have been using a sanding sealer prior to applying a wood stain with a clear matt varnish over the top. The effects on the wood strips, the dowels and the laser cut sheets have been quite different and a challenge to say the least.
In the end I just capitulated and will be (hopefully) ending up with a nice looking weathered ship rather than a new one....lol
Still enjoying the journey though. Here are the photo's, starting with my use of a poor mans lathe.

Gun ports are framed and faired to the bulkheads.
The sanding seems to take forever, since I need to gingerly sand it down to avoid breaking anything.
Now on the the sweep ports.

Sweep ports are complete, moving on to the stern framing.

I finished planking the fighting tops. Now the planks just have to be trimmed. For that I use a straight edge nail clipper. It does a nice job for very thin planks.

I made a warning flag for my bowsprit. Pretty fancy, eh?

Slow but sure the lower masts are being fabricated. They are just "dry" fitted to the hull

While I'm proud of my work on the ship's pump, but I have to say, compared to many of your builds, mine looks like a cartoon version. I'm always amazed at the precision and quality of most of your work.

Installed the pump. A few details left but they can be added even though it's glued to the deck.

Working on the ship's pump. The devil is in the details. At least it works. I drilled holes in the hull to take the extra long pump rods.

Pump assembly "dry" fitted to the deck. I still have some details to go.

Progress its slow (now shrouds on last mast, mizzenmast), but still is going on.
Soon going to start to prapere the sails filling them with wind.I hope GAC400 will do the trick.

When a cleaning is needed I use canned air and QTips for tight places. Think my variation on the chainplates will work just fine. Wonder what the point is of Artesania giving two slightly different sizes of dead eyes for this location?

I installed the caps on each mast so I can have a point of reference for all the other things that get installed on the mast.

Weekly update
Finished framing the hull Alignment of the bulkheads is accomplished by attaching E-1 to the top and then aligning the bulkheads to the gunport. E-1 rests on cutouts and stepson the bulkhead

The decks and forward timbers are added next. During this operation you assemble a jig ( although it is not called this) to aid in lining up the forward timbers. It is called a conductor in the plans. The instructions have you remove it, wrap it in cellophane and reinstall after your timbers are aligned. I did this but really see zero reason. After the glue drys the forward timbers are really sturdy. Oh and they NEVER tell you to remove it.

Next we start planking by attaching the first four upper planks and the Garboard plank. All planks are preshaped and numbered. The cellophane wrapped jig is really just a PITA during this operation. After attaching E-1 I removed it.

The remainder of the planks are attached from the Garboard up. The final Plank E-5 must be adjusted to fit. Rough sanding followed.
