Hooks and bolts must be made of iron and not wood, but this point is not mentioned on the monograph. So, it's a great work. Congratulations! -

It's very very real. Detailed and fine work, even on hidden parts. It's a pleasure to watch your progress. -
Hi. I've received an email from Ancre telling me that L'Hermione monograph has been sent it ("En cours de livraison"). It's a Christmas' present from Admiralty, but in Spain we celebrate an ancient tradition on 6th January, Three Wise Men's day, instead of 25th December with Santa. As you'll get it on Christmas Day, please give me your first impression. Regards. Jose

Well, some progress in order to keep alive this topic. After "some" frames later... Checking frames in place. Of course, they are not glued or finished. In fact, I must build stern frames. I've also built hawse timbers, ufff!. I think it's one of the most difficult part of a ship. Best regards. -

ancre Le François 1683 by jose_b - Scale 1:48
jose_b replied to jose_b's topic in - Build logs for subjects built 1501 - 1750
I continue with frames. In this case, I've only made floor timber and lower futtocks of aft frames. I'm also checking some of these pieces on the keel in order to have an idea. Of course, they are not sanded, glued or lined up. In fact, there is an extra thickness because of paper glued on each side. Cheers, Jose -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
