Still waiting for the new decals but fired up the airbrush to get the base coats shot...a light powder blue shade for the Mustang and a lime green metallic for the Vega (future build that needs completed as well). The blue is 2 parts French Blue one Part white...the green is straight from the bottle, a Boyd Coddington color, which I've had sitting around for awhile The Mustang has kinda come full circle, as I stated in the first post the original kit was the MPC Blue Max, which had a base of light blue, it got changed over to the orange when I decided to do the Brutus Mustang, ironically because of decal issues... They now got to bake out for a couple days...waiting again

OK here we go again......here's a pic of the new scheme...Keeling and Clayton California Charger, which is actually just the team name to my knowledge they never ran a Charger as in MOPAR...the team was primarily known for their top full entries but ran Funnys as well, a Pinto, Mustang and ended with a Firebird. Decals are on the way so I got the body scuffed up for a new primer coat and repainted teh chassis in semi gloss black, had to do a little disassembly to accomplish that, but it should be fine nothing broke... I'm guessing I need to rename the build as it is no longer the Brutus Mustang...thanks for all the likes and the suggestions, tips & tricks, offers to assist and general support...much appreciated

Thanks a bunch Lou...they would have but I've already ordered the different set, and the expenses are climbing on this build already, wonder why I didn't get a hit on them when I searched ebay??? weird. Thanks to all you guys for the assists much appreciated. The new paint shouldn't be too horrible, its just all black, well with that said we all know how black can be... Thanks again

I've been searching...this particular sheet was aftermarket from Slixx and is no longer available...it seems they are closing up shop and are no longer in production...I've only used the grill and tail sections of the sheet...if I can save the rest I may be able to find the those parts...Anyone have any experience/recommendations with water slide decal paper for laser printers

Finally got the decal film...but no joy, they seem to have deteriorated beyond the point of no return, they continue to breakup or curl and not adhere if they release from the paper at all...pretty disappointing I've attached a few photos of the incomplete build just so you can see how the corrected stance looks...thanks to all that have followed along, was fun...decal issues aside

Not much to add at this point...still waiting for the decal stuff, seems they sent me the wrong item so they had to reship...may be here tomorrow. In the interim I just been doing some touch-up work on the window frames and parachute pack, sorry no pics, maybe later today...show to shovel first, man I hate winter

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
