They were aluminum but no cylinder liners...that and pistons as hard as chrome molly lead to very different expansions rates once things started to heat...they would just beat themselves to death -

Yep but just a lil one...baring any unforeseen hiccups she should be good🤞 I think I caught something...found myself eyeing up another victim...the Henry J with a Hemi beacons...could be a phantom gasser...wild paint, lifted front end... -

With the Mustang complete I'm focusing on the Vega...started experimenting with the decals, since I plan to paint the rockers I had two sets of rocker decals to play with so they were sacrificed to the gods for the good of the project...what finally worked was two coats of liquid decal film and a heavy coat of clear spray lacquer... 🤞 here's hoping the rest go as well -
Well at long last here she is after approximately 16yrs in storage and a lot of heartburn...the completed Keeling & Clayton Mustang funny...which was the Lew Arrington Brutus funny...which was the Raymond Beadle Blue Max funny... not perfect by any stretch, but she's out of storage and on the shelf...thanks to all who supported throughout this build, was loads of fun reminiscing with you all.

Struck out on the decal paper, and mail order is nuts, you either have to order 10-20 sheets or pay 8-9 bucks for shipping, wacky...so I gave the remainder a shot of clear lacquer...we'll see how that goes, I'm also planning to airbrush at least the white sections of the side panels...and all the strips if need be... In the meantime worked the bugs out of the chassis and gane it a test fit the tick marks you see are for stripe alignment, thanks for all the likes

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
