So... busy tying more blocks. I have the lines from the center of the yards down to their respective Belaying pins. Coiling the excess rope as I go.
Here are the first three ropes belayed.

Have the foremast yards shaped and sanded. Making up blocks for them.

Cheers John for your input.  No its not a stupid question. Unfortunately it is in a real hard to get to place with all the ratlines in place. And the only drill I use is an arcmedian drill.
Even if I had seen this before construction of the masts, It would of been tough to get a hole through there. The rest of the yards have this line simply drilled through the masts as shown in the pic.
So as the only option I see I will have to follow suit with the rest of the yard rigging.

Turns out John your idea is exactly what the rest of the pans read. Thank you for the tip.
Have attached the parrel beads and cleats.

Violin blocks on the lower main and lower fore yards. The rest are normal blocks large and small.
Still have to attack blocks on the ends of the mid and top yards.

Hi everyone, thanks for all the likes. I haven't disappeared just busy with some big decisions hahaha

Yes Messis the two upper gunport lids are painted with the St George cross (the flag of England) the lower port lids which are all red will have carved lion heads similar to that of the vasa once I get round to producing them. The st George cross on the upper lids are depicted in Van der Velde's and eppings sketches of her. The lion heads are a bit of artistic license however are shown on the painting presented to King Charles.

No worries. The tabs that these two rooms slot into the deck are out as I was told by another member a few years ago.  Thus avoiding me making this mistake as well. So there you go, Information passed on from one modeler to another over the years.

    Hi,

making a a bit more progress, glad of the advice and feedback from Mayohoo and SColeman as the other fender - rubbing strake was a better fit.  Decided a while ago to paint the hull and glad as some of the bow is a bit messy.  Will sort the upper deck planking out once that deck is down as this is the area that I have kit-bashed as this model is not really based on the Surprise but is a re-box of another kit la Glorie.

    She is looking absolutely beautiful.
I bet there is a lot of weight on the stern at this point of the build. As just found out with my Friesland build.
Cutting out those individual window panes will be time consuming but worth it for looks.  Good neat and tidy work.

S.Coleman reacted to MESSIS in Flag on mizzen/boom
Thank you again Tom. This is what I said to my self.... "why dont tie to the driver boom and so forget that they had a flag". But I guess that a flag was tied to the gaff only when the ship was coming in the ancorage or port and so then there wasnt any hard sailing manouvering taking place.

Another thing : I saw in a few pictures of Hermione's replica that there was a second block tied to the cleat on the taffrail and then the haliyard of the flag was going up to (passing through) the other block on the driver gaff. And it made sense, dont you agree Tom?
