After a long break I'm back in the boat building business. This time there will be no tiny knot detailed rigging. Fingers don't work anymore.

My new work shop. My last build I had an air conditioned garage with a giant work table. This is in a spare bedroom since an un air conditioned garage in Arizona is not livable

I might plunge back in and build a Tug Boat! It's been a long time but I might give it a try even at 83 years old and all thumbs

I'm back! I decided to jump back in the game and build a kit that doesn't have tiny knots to tie. My fingers gave out with my last build. Now I'm shopping for a Tug Boat or Fire Boat kit. Billings has a nice wooden tug Boat. Any suggestions!

The Spray finally made it to the museum. Just a little re-rigging damage that I will talk the museum through how to fix it. That makes two of my models are now on permanent display at museums!!! As soon as I get pics of the display I shall post them, -

My Spray is finally finished. Engraved plaques and a print if Slocum reading in his cabin. The Spray is shown running before a storm with all sails furled except a storm jib. A sea anchor is deployed to keep its stern pointed into the sea and wind. -

Now I have to make title plaques for the base then I'll see if any of the Slocum museums want this display model for their visitors. It's a perfect tool to show folks how Slocum lived for over three years while sailing alone. -

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
