  1. The factory supplied dog legs diid not fit the stern deck so I made new ones out of basswood using my contour gauge. .
  2. I like the rudder it reminds me of the butt stock of a Winchester lever action repeating rifle.
  3. Polyacrylided the deck and hull. While it has some problems, overall I am pretty pleased with the hull. Not bad for my first planked hull.
  4. Putting the stern together. Some roughness haas to be smoothed out and refining is still required.
  5. I tried a slighty different planking pattern on the other side.Looks pretty good!
  6. Thanks guys!Love The Pink Floyd song also.I don't smoke but my local cigar shop was giving away cigar boxes and they are perfect for keeping my modeling tools!Yes the instructions are not great but looking at the other build logs helps immensely!
  7. A little more progress.(BTW i really appreciate all of the helpful and encouraging replies I have received on this build log.(They number exactly one0)Sheesh.Oh well no matter!
  8. one of Donald Mckays record setters!Great Job!
  9. No guys i am not frying bacon!i got this idea from another swift build on this forum.I hope it works out!
  10. Glued on the deck planking.i have to sand the planks level and contour them to follow the curve of the hull.
  11. Refining the shape of the hull and filling in cracks and gaps with splinters in some cases.
  12. Closing up the bottom and will finish the first layer of planking soon.I have a lot of work to do to make sure the planks are level and conform to the proper contours,
  13. OK! I continue to put the planks on and it is going ok,I will have to cut ,sand and add wood here and there to make the hull as good as I can get it.i already got my money's worth out of this kit because I never did a planked hull before but it is fun and challenging!
  14. I have never seen such incredible craftsmanship and skill. You must be an engineer or luthier to make such a perfect model!
  15. Ok I'm diving in!I secured the deck and have pinned up the first plank.I soaked the plank in hot water for 10 minutes and pinned it to the bulkheads. To prevent splitting I had to drill a pilot hole in each bulkhead.I guess i will let it dry, mark the position of the plank and apply the Titebond.Hope I am doing this right, but I'll guess i will find out!
