Jeronimo got a reaction from garyshipwright in ROYAL CAROLINE 1749 by Jeronimo - FINISHED -1/48 scale
Completion of the model.
During the construction report, I did without explanation / working methods etc. ,
because I thing the photos say more than a lot of words.
All pictures during the construction phase can also be seen on my hompage.
Many thanks to Mike for helping with the construction of the frames.
Thanks again to everyone for the kind comments and likes.

Thank you for the kind comments.
Update
Rudder system and various railings installed.
I saved the most difficult section, the bow section,
at the end.
I will not install the cannons on this model,
but the eight gun-carriages (Lafette) are mounted.

Hello, everyone. Once this section is complete, the internal build will continue. The pulley rings are made of thin-walled copper tubes: 1.5 mm outside and 0.9 mm inside. However, it was found to be too large to be disposed of (part x of the figure) after being machined into a concave outer circle. It was finished with a diameter of 1.2 mm and an inner diameter of 0.7 mm copper tube.

It took a whole day to finish the rivets. The color is not completely black, I do not like the single color and contrast is too big, a Little Red Brown; because of the lighting, the actual color than the photo a little darker, similar to dark brown.

Thank you for your support and encouragement. During the Spring Festival, I rested for five days. I started going back to my workshop yesterday. Because of the later dyeing, in order to show the irregular shape of the Lath, this part breaks the convention of complete laying. Making Rivets before dyeing is also tedious work.

Good evening, everyone. Thanks for the PEP talk. Due to the number of hand-made windows, the small size of the parts (0.75 mm in side length) and the constant change of the interface angle, resulting in slow progress, the quality of partial completion is not good. Most of the wood lines are planed by hand and a few by milling. To avoid the edges, apply a small amount of wood wax oil to the surface. The construction of the interior of the ship will continue after the stern rudder is installed.

Good evening, everyone. Thank you for your encouragement and recognition. At the beginning of this year, I deliberately slowed down my work, working no more than eight hours a day in the studio to ensure long-term health and to avoid a significant impact on my eyesight. I hope to do more in the future.

Hi,
thank you very much for the good wishes.
Hello colleagues,
after a short creative break ... 😁... we continue here again:
Continuation: Ratlines for the topmast shrouds - Enflechures
With the addition of the ratlines for the topmast shrouds, it was necessary to clarify how the futtock staves are to be made here. In contrast to the more massive futtock staves of the lower shrouds, made of served brass rods, I used a rope with ø 0.35 mm for the topmast shrouds, which was soaked with super glue before serving.
After fixing the futtock stave, I could attach the last ratlines of the port side main topmast shrouds.
So the chapter -ratlines for the main topmast shrouds- is done:
Soon I will continue with the ratlines for the fore topmast shrouds to finally close the chapter -ratlines- for this model.
To be continued ...
