puckotred got a reaction from IgorSky in S/S Bohuslän by puckotred - Nordic Class Boats/Türkmodel - Scale 1:45 - abandoned
Hello Ship model builders...
I am Puckotred from Göteborg and this is my third model and the first without sails.
A picture of the real thing:
From Atlastmodels: (With some minor corrections from me)
"The steamship S/S Bohuslän was built at Eriksbergs shipyard in Gothenburg 1913. For more than 40 years the traffic route of Bohuslän was between Göteborg- Lysekil-Smögen-Gravarne (Kungshamn) on the Swedish west coast. Later it was used as a ferry between Sweden and Denmark and between Sweden and Norway until it was taken off to be scrapped in 1963. A number of enthusiasts decided to rescue it and restored Bohuslän to its original condition and is still running it in the west coast archipelago in the summertime. "
Build size: 95 x 16 x 40 cm.
Made by Türkmodel on behalf of NCB – Nordic Class Boats
So let's start with the unboxing:
Presentation:
Box:
Lid off:
Closeup of metal cast fittings etc:
The other half. on the right are the davits (or "lifeboat hangers" as the instructions state them)
made of "plexiglass".
The stuff underneath:
Curtains!!!!:
Wire and aluminium foil(?!) for the funnel:
"plexiglass" OK for the windows but the small sheet on top is for the winch and sunroofs.
To be continued...

Another error in the building instructions.
The marked area is upside down.
had to soak the whole area in debonder to rebuild and is now right side up. The construction is for one of the masts to rest in.

Furniture in rear cabin. (Smoking room)
Mid cabin.
Size and proportions are all wrong, quite irritating.
Manual is also wrong here. The benches to the right should not be here but in the foremost cabin.
Will see if the CA-debonder can fix the problem...

Puckotred,
You're doing a very good job on her, and I didn't quite realise how big she is. Re. the wallpaper. If that's what the wallpaper is, then... I can also see that re-working the interior must be a pain, but then what a joy to get it correct! Yours could be the only model Bohuslan like that.
Btw, re. the hull. Good idea about the lips over the windows, but have you ever thought about adding the rivets? I believe you can buy packs of rivet heads.

Just a quick note:
If anyone wonder about the hideous wallpaper on my model, here's a pic from the real ship:

Small update:
new piece from Turkey
Door openings still too small. Turkmodel: "Doors not meant to be functional. Glue them to wall."
Fitting the upper cabinswalls.
The walls have a strong curve upwards at the aft that the deck, or anything else has, have to fill up with strips.
Painting and fitting some other stuff

Well, I could not keep away. Just had to do a little more...
Finished the cafeteria
Started attaching the roof. Does not fit at aft. Have to do some thinking on how to fix that.
Testing lightning. The windows are dim since the protective film is still on.
From aft.

Mike,
Check "Biltema" They have a great little compressor. And you can use it later to learn airbrushing!
