MrBlueJacket got a reaction from EricWilliamMarshall in Red Jacket by MrBlueJacket - FINISHED - BlueJacket Shipcrafters - Scale 1/8" = 1' (1:96)
Been doing a little of this and a little of that. Like adding the vertical ladder to the deckhouse, the ventilators, anchor chain, bitts, etc. Pretty soon I think I'll be starting the rigging.

The rear deckhouse is permanently installed, and the bilge pump is fabricated.
Boy, does it feel good to get back to modeling.

Made the several sampson posts for the forecastle from 1/8" square stock. Pins are for secure mounting.

So I have been out of the hospital for a week now. Get tired very easily, every day is a little improvement. Got to looking at the RJ last Friday, and wondered why there are no scupper ports in the bulwarks. Careful examination of the plans shows 8 tiny channels from the deck out the hull. I thought "why bother?"but I couldn't ignore them. Here's a shot of one of them (just left of the locker) and its exit. Time to bring out the black touch-up paint.

MrBlueJacket reacted to jgodsey in Mary Taylor by jgodsey - FINISHED - Bluejacket Shipcrafters - Scale 3/16" - Solid Hull Wooden Kit
Thank you to everyone for all the Likes.
The Standing Rigging is now complete. Rigging shrouds is tricky business as it can be a challenge to keep them even. I'm sure they get easier with practice.
And, the masting is complete with both the top masts added. It's getting real close.
Now, string the Running Rigging and add the flags. So close!
Cheers,
Jim

I soaked the waterway planks overnight, then pinned and taped them into position. After drying for a day, they held their shape just fine.

With the mainmast done, it is time to work on the mizzen. So here's the dilemma: The mizzen goes through the aft cabin roof. If i drill a hole in the deck, like the fore and main, I will never be able to line up the aft cabin roof hole correctly at a later time. So I have to drill though both at the same time. But I can't install the aft cabin yet, there is too much other stuff that needs to be done first.
My solution is to do the minimal assembly of the aft cabin (sides and roof) and carefully tape it into its final position. Now I can do my drilling, then take the cabin off.

And, of course, what modeler cannot resist putting the sub-assemblies together to see what it will look like?
