Hi Sjors, yes feeling really bad, but no beer at 11 in the morning. First the break and thereafter the beer. Rest assured there will be a stair so you donot have to make a split to enter the wheelhouse (a split can be very painfull and a one-off if you are not trained).

My ruined 3rd deck state-room. Or is this high tech weathering ?

My stupid action dissolved the paint of the doors and windows and smeared over the planking.

So a I have to redo the planking and painting, own fault. Anyway, it keeps me off the street.

not sure how you are going to proceed but this is what i would do. fix up the stateroom glue it all back on the deck and the ventilation openings .

 

wet the ventilation windows dowels at the bottom and clamp it down so that you get a bit of bend in it aftyer drying

 

the ventilation windows assembly has some wood parts to hold her in place. place a strip of 1 mm of wood on the bottom of it.

then when yuo glue her in place you need to push in a bit before it clicks in place and she should the curve  nicely

 

its something i am goign to try (without glue) so i cna remove the top part i f necessary to fix the lights

Thanks Adrieke, however I was not able to bend the right curve to fit to the third deck. The weakness to do so are the window separators, they cannot hold the tension and at last I ended up with the mess I caused. Since I donot have to be able to remove this part I now choose for the simple way as done by Wim, namely by placing a stroke walnut veneer to close the gap between the ventilation windows and the deck.

Simple ways are always the best.

And if everybody is doing the same thing at there's paddle steamer, It just belongs like that.

Then AL makes a fault by not showing that in his drawings!

Thanks Sjors, I think the pictures published are from a customized ship and not from confection as supplied in the kit. It is as going on holidays, you never see those beautiful girls from the holiday brochure  .

Have finished the second deck state-room ventilation windows and am still busy with the restauration of the third deck state-room. Will close the gap between the ventilation windows and the third deck lateron with a stroke of walnut veneer. I donot have the courage for another attempt to get the needed curve.

At last finished the rebuilt of the 3rd deck state-room, so can now proceed further. Next step will be to add the wheelhouse, afterwhich I will glue the 3rd deck in place. 

 

According to the parts list ramin wood 1x5x10 mm is needed to create the steps of the stairs. No wood with such dimensions in the kit, so have to do some shopping first.

did you have a look in the plastic containers. in my kit there where a few short pieces of the ramin ther efor the steps

You're right Adrieke, there are 5 pieces of 100 mm each, so exact the volume needed. Completely overlooked them, did not expect them there, buried under the United States flag. Next built I better follow your wise example and count/sort all the pieces before start crying  .

The wheelhouse in place, added the ship's bell and the start of the wheelhouse stairway. Next will be adding the borders and then place the whole on the ship in order to construct the stairways.
