It's looking really good John 

I keep looking at it compared to the Spirit

It is certainly a very different build as my cabins being square must have been much easier to do

Does yours have a lot of wooden boards on the outside ?

If you are not sure what I mean have a look mat the built photo

They look a bit wierd and I am not sure what they are for

Looking at pics on google it is difficult to compare because there are few of similar size, most of the ones being used now being so much larger

I presume they are to hold things together a bit but I am not sure

Yes, there are a lot of wooden board on the outside of the King of the Mississippi as well. They are ment to support the decks as well as carrying the railings. Or is this not what you mean ?

The accessories to form the main stacks are painted. Will apply one layer of varnish to protect the paint.

The smokestacks are very similar to the Spirit with the red and gold top with the fin thingeys

The Spirit though has a brass crown thingey on top instead of painted  

It has the same brass rings although I had to make mine whereas yours appear pre made 

I think I will have to have the joins on the starboard side as it is the port that is the viewing side

John about the rings . if you look on the plan they have the eyebolts to hold the stacks going right through them. which would be a pain havign to drill in the ring. in teh photos i think they are actualy drulled right above the rings

In the meantime I have the eyebolts placed right above the rings. The 1:1 plan is very obvious about that. Drilling in the ring should not be an option to me, since I have not the means to do so. (lucky me)

Does the brass rings fit to the stacks?

I had the problem they didn't fit.

Have sanded the mainstacks a bit conical to the top (it can hardly be noticed), the three rings differs in diameter.

In fact, i didnot look ahead, but just reading Adrieke's log who painted the main stacks in an early stage, so I was already made aware of this.

Working now on the machine room steam stacks and the turnbuckles. The bow mast, central mast and stern mast turnbuckles are on picture 66 of the photo instruction book numbered 203, 202 and 204 respectively. On the parts list they are numbered 202, 203 and 204. On the 1:1 drawing the numbering is 200, 203 and 204. This all looks more a kind of Sudoku than helpful instructions
