Hello, I am pointfiftytracer but people usually just call me point. I live in California's high desert and do fiberglass for a living. A few years ago I stopped making model ships. Now that I've gotten my life back on track, I'm hoping to get back into the hobby.

I have several 3D printers and a laser cutter. I'm wanting to combine the two hobbies and possibly make a laser cut POF build if I ever get the time to draw up plans.

If all goes well I'll be starting a build soon.

Cheers. Point

Thanks for the welcome Mark and John.

I need figure out what exactly I want to do, but I'm thinking of starting with just a small sectional model such as a battle station or cross section. My issue before was that I'd take on these big projects and never actually finish them.

Gidday Point and another warm welcome from the Land Downunder.

I can empathise with your unfinished projects. My garage is  a monument to my partially completed projects.

In my case life, time and lack of funds get in the way.

I wish you all the best in your research for a suitable modelling project.

Wishing you all the best.

Mark.

Point,

That probably would be the best approach.  Start with something small and easy and build on the knowledge gained.

Hi, Point and welcome to Model Ship World.  While I'm still a modeling novice, I think you'll find my Sultana build (still in progress) to be of interest to you.  It incorporates 3D modeling, laser cutting, and a little 3D printing (with more planned for later).

Peter

Completed builds: Virginia 1819 from Artesania Latina, Sultana (gallery) with laser cut POB hull and 3D printed components
