Hello everyone. Here I am starting my first build log with the OcCre Buccaneer.  I should have the beginnings of it later today after the kit arrives, but we shall see.

In appearance this kit looks much like the golden hind kit from OcCre, however there are some somewhat subtle differences.  For one, the cannon placement is different, and also according to their store page, the golden hind is 1:85 while the buccaneer is listed as 1:100 to name some of those differences.  I'm not sure what this scale is based off of for the buccaneer though, as this kit is one with no namesake.

I think posting the kit picture here would be interesting as a start.  Then if anyone wants to compare any differences I may do, there is a point of reference.

Definitely going to be following along here as well! I started the same model a couple months ago, going as far as to start a log, but life has gotten in the way and I've made almost no progress as yet! Hopefully seeing another tackling this model will help prompt me to get back at it!

Thanks for joining in! This is my first ship model, so we'll see how it goes. Starting off getting my bearings marking the pieces

Robby, Welcome to MSW.

I am looking forward of this build, and regarding your question about staggering the planking.
The plans or instruction should say something about it.

Now, now Robby,

Be nice to the ship 😁, it's growing because you're gaining experience.

Buccaneers has that tendency.

Seriously, you are doing a great job. It's looking good from my perspective. Be patient and go slow.

😆 Thanks! Sorry I mean that I'm starting to like the ship more than I did before. I'm already thinking about what model to do after this though haha 😆 it is fun

Robby, I meant this is in a fun way....  I was writing it from the ships perspective.... think of the ship as a child, as they grow there will be more challenges with them, same applies to our models.

It's coming together well Robby, in my opinion a good smooth base is a must for 2nd planking.(I tend to put more filler on and keep sanding)

Current builds;

 Henry Ramey Upcher 1:25

Providence whaleboat- 1:25     HMS Winchelsea 1764 1:48

Completed:

HM Cutter Sherbourne- 1:64- finished    Triton cross section scratch- 1:60 - finished

Non ship:  SBD-3 Dauntless 1:48 Hasegawa -FINISHED

Survived the second planking. If there is a next time, i think super glue would be much better than gorilla wood glue for that part.  Also when doing the bottom ridge (keel?) It helped a bit to use some more of the pin nails to hold them in place. Certainly made some mistakes, however things are starting to shape up a bit

You are making fast progress! Congrats! I've gotten about halfway through my first planking and hopefully will have a chance to do some more soon!

Thanks!  Have fun with the planking, it was tough for me but once its done the ship feels pretty nice
