Russ, Thank you for the kind words and the information! I will let the paint harden off for a few days before applying the Polycrylic.

JPett, Thank you for the tip! I will file this one away for use in the future. Such a simple way to avoid this problem! I'm glad I don't have to spend many hours of trail and error to avoid the bleed over!!

This is why I love this site. All the member's willingness to help those of us who are just starting out!

Thank you so very much!! :)

Hi Eddie, I like little schooners.

You did a very nice paint job. Keep on the good work!

It's too late now, but If you have problems with your tape just give the Tamiya tape a try. It's perfect for those paintings.

Cheers, Richard.

Hi Eddie

if you should`nt allready have seen it.... tune in to U-Tube in a spot staring Gregory Peck and Anthony Quin " The Boston Man" in probably the best and breathtaking bluewater Gloucester fisher schoner races ever on film. Whoever is intending to model this type, shall be grooved in real quick in making up his mind afterwards.

Figure I might as well throw in my 2 cents worth.

Nice yellow table, too bad its so small. Luckily you can build more :dancetl6: and you'll most likely need them. One can never have too much space, or tools, or extra materials, or books.....

The keel fix was a nice repair. Personally I never have had my Swift (AKA DSotM) in a clamp, I prefer holding her, I think she likes it too. Its good you had an opps early on, it will help you realize anything can be fixed and in this hobby I'd say few models get finished without some opps along the way. Its the way of building and makes us better builders.

Elsie really reminds me of the Bluenose. I guess the Bluenose has the white stripe though. Nice crisp waterline, too bad about the bleed though, but she still ended up beautiful. Thats the great part of this hobby, nobodys counting how many times it take to get it right. I also agree, MSW is "THE" community for getting the best help ever.

Hi all,

Been a while since I posted. I haven't given up! I have been dealing with some medical problems that are cutting into my build time. The most serious is a Warthin's Tumor. http://www.wisegeek.com/what-is-a-warthins-tumor.htm Thank goodness it is benign! :) I am going to have it removed Friday 8/23 morning with an overnight stay in the hospital. Once this thing is gone and I have recovered from the surgery enough, I will return to work on the Elsie!

Hope to post build updates soon!

Eddie,

I've been away from MSW for a little while and have just recently returned...to find this smart little Elsie build! Very very nice work. The keel and sternpost repairs were very well done. The hull painting is sharp too.

I wish you all the best on your procedure and a speedy and full recovery, and look forward to more of your work.

Hello Eddie,

I wish you all the best with the procedure and a quick and speedy recovery.

When the procedure is over, you rest and heal and know that you are thought of warmly by all your friends here.

Take your care and get well soon.

Wow, I've been remiss in my reading.. just read about your surgery.

Hope it goes great and you have a quick and full recovery.

Your ship is patient... she'll wait for you. Get well.
