This is my first wooden ship build.  I'm an experienced plastic modeler and when I was 12, built the Revell Constitution.  I was a woodworker for 25 years, creating chessboard and jewelry boxes, so I'm used to doing detailed work in wood.    I'm very much enjoying this build after a 3 year hiatus from doing any creative work due ro health issues.

Thanks so much.  I've been struggling with this for weeks!  I'll repost as soon as i figure out the conversion process.

In your iphone settings at the top, search "camera format" and it should take you right to it.

I am currently building the Mayflower from Model Shipways same scale and amazed at the differences. All minor but different non the less. Nice work

I'm having issues with the rudder.  The metal to metal super gluing isn't working.  I'm considering soldering the pin to the straps...

Is the metal degreased?

The glue to old?

Metal was blackened, glue was new.  I believe the blackening agent led to the glue failure   I cleaned the pcs and used epoxy, which seems to have worked.

I've worked on this boat for a number of hours.  I'm not entirely happy over it, but I think it's passable, and better than the plastic seats that came with the kit.  I lined it with mahogany strips on the inside and painted the outside.

My first cinched block.  109 to go.  Should the color be this light?  Should I stain them?

Any hints on the cinching?

I'm gluing the cannon poet doors on now.  Using wood glue, but I may add super to strengthen it a bit.

Started the chain plates.  These are made out of thread, per the kit, and pinned at the bottom.  Also starting on blocking the the mizzen mast.  Wasn't sure wether to use bigger or dark brown thread, the instructions were a bit muddled.

Main mast is the only one that gets binding, which I finished tonight.

Also glued up the fore mast.

Staining looks better and is easier to do at this stage.  👍

Added all furniture,  except the kit was a few belaying pins short, so they're on order.  Working on blocks for the masts.

Rr⅘Some details finished in the last few days.  Anchors installed, Mayflower emblem painted and installed, Boat installed and lashed down.  Working on blocks for masts and yards.

Bow sprite installed and lashed.

All of the mast and yard blocks attached.

the frame around the model is part of a jig to set the masts plumb.

Ship update. Putting in ratlines. The graph paper is a guide. Every intersection gets a clove hitch knot. No plastic ratlines for this baby.
