22 ft Yawl ship boat by Johngr- Vanguard Models - 1:64

Recommended Posts

After a long period of intensive work I am back. And in parallel with HMS HOOD I decided to start a relatively small project from Vanguard Models the 22ft Yawl ship boat. The quality of the kit is excellent and so are the instructions, In fact comparing them to a similar kit from ModelExpo that I have is like night and day.

And at the start I managed to break one of the bulkhead. Special care must be taken because MDF is relatively fragile and delicate.

However, I managed to fix it by putting the small pieces together.!!

Then all the temporary bulkheads were placed on the jig, glued and waiting for the glue to dry.

I'll be really interested in following your progress as I'm currently building the VM 18ft Cutter and I am about the same stage as you.  Mine will be part of the Sparkler build log though.

  • The title was changed to 22 ft Yawl ship boat by Johngr- Vanguard Models - 1:64

I'll keep an eye on this too! I did two of these kits - you can see them in my HMS Fly log - and they are very good as is VM's support. Fiddly but perfectly doable with care. They are very fragile at certain stages of the build.

Cheers

Alistair

Thank you Andrew, mine is not part of any larger project and is intended as a gift to the wife for her office.

Thank you Alistair, It really needs a lot of attention, I already managed to break two pieces but fortunately I was able to repair them.
