Well I have turned to the Dark Card Side while I have paused my Sparkler build, that build is in it's "messy" stage of sanding and filling that requires me (well actually the Admiral requires me 😆) to be out in the garage that serves as my workshop.  The cold weather and turn in my health mean that is not an attractive proposition at the moment so I have retreated indoors and started another card model.

My subject is another of the Paper Shipwright models I bought a few years ago.  This one is a progression in size and complexity from the Starlight Puffer and TSS Earnslaw, I did logs for before, but hopefully not too much of a leap for me.

The Brighton herself seems to have had quiet an active life before coming to grief on some rocks in the fog off Galway, an attractive looking vessel with raked funnels and enough detail to keep me occupied, but hopefully not frustrated.

The instructions and parts layout are just the same as for Starlight and Earnslaw, just more of them!  It is a bit bigger than I anticipated and the hull measures 330mm long once assembled.

Construction so far has been pretty straightforward, the base needs joining and reinforcing, as does the central spine and deck, but not difficult.  The ribs and deck did take a little effort to align but seem to be symmetrical - we shall see when I get to adding the hull sides if that is true!  The ply baseboard will be used again to provide a seascape setting for the finished model to be done later on.

Thanks for looking in.  👋
