Beautiful and inspiring work almost comes to an end JJ…. I wonder if you could explain and visualize two things: 1. The connection of your 9-12 Volt connector to your model stand and how you wired the male/ female plug inside the winnie (did you drill the wiring all the way vertical through the keel AND the multiply?) 2. A small tutorial on how to produce those lovely lanterns hanging all over? The rest of the wiring is clear in your pictures I think. Thanks, Frank. -
Thanks Glenn and Matt and the likes, Yes, I think too it’s easier doing that now, but actually the idea is from Westwood (Dusan), all credits to him and his more than beautiful benchmark build! Yes, glad I’m fully recovered now, lots of sweating again. That’s different from the good old flu I must say… I hope I also have time again to browse through both your excellent builds as well again! I have time enough and am not in any hurry, I’m behind almost everybody, whether they started before or after me, LOL! 😂😉 Cheers, Frank.

Time for an update after weeks of inactivity because of work and flu/corona after completing chapter 3. I made a start with chapter 4 and am also preparing for masts, just to keep my options open, when I might feel I have place to showcase a fully rigged Winnie in my house 😉👍🏻.

Thanks for your elaborate answer Fred! I will check where I can get those Shipyard Enterprise plans here in Europe! As for the backward angles of the masts, I found on Chuck’s plans that the formast is a straight 90 degrees angle to the keel, the main mast leaning only 1 or 2 degrees backwards and the mizzen mast like 3 or 4 degrees… I aligned my wooden ruler to the keel, is that wrong? Is the waterline that you used perhaps not parallel to the keel line? Thanks, Frank.

Yes, I just read you will be cutting more in the future, so no worries. I totally understand and agree to let the guys ready to start Speedwell now buy the first batches. I was just flabbergasted I saw the first two chapters being listed and sold out at the same time when I woke up Monday morning...hahaha...but, good for you, you fully deserve it Chuck! Frank.

Hi Fred, Very impressive your fully rigged version thusfar! I want to keep my options open now that I'm starting chapter 4, planking the deck. I might go for a fully rigged Winnie later on as well. How did you determine the exact locations of the masts? Only by the holes in the false deck , as given by Chuck? Are all three masts right up, that is 90 degrees with the waterline? Where did you get the plans for the Enterprise? Is the rigging fully compatible with Winchelsea, or at least contemporary? Thanks! Frank.

Hi Dusan, Your work is really breathtaking and a real piece of art, the beautiful painting, the precision of the woodwork and metals, usage of tools, all at a decent speed is truly amazing and very inspirational to me! I now bought the Proxxon MF70 and started to learn working with this milling tool, again a milestone for me, but again slowing me down in my build. Learning so much by this Winnie project, from Chuck, Mike, and also certainly you and all other amazing builders on this website! Amazing... Frank.

Good day all, Starboardside chapter 3 finished. Hopefully chapter 3 finished these Christmas Holidays… I added some extra fancy molding above the QG windows as my roof and fancy molding was a little high and I didn’t like the large blue space above these windows. Also on the contemporary model I spotted something that looks more or less the same… The roof and channels are not glued on permanently yet ofcourse! Frank.

Found my way making the columns…nothing permantly glued on yet… Above the windows still a lot of blue plane empty area…on the contemporary model there is some kind of fancy molded edge there as well. I think I’ll be making that too! Frank.

I had and still have the same feeling Greg! That’s so marvelous about this whole project. Unbelievable that a year ago I would not have dreamed I would be able to build chapter 3 up this point! But as our self confidance grows, we should beware not to overestimate ourselves and keep going slow and steady and work according to the plans Chuck provided. Frank.

Thanks JJ, Jim, Greg, Glenn & the likes! It was actually Dusan’s (westwood) idea to leave space for the channels and more…thank you Dusan! I anticipated only on the channels by building them now and placing them between the fancy moldings. The other items are much smaller and for them the fancy molding can hopefully also be chiseled away easily but precisely.. Frank.

Small Sunday update. Almost done starboardside. Struggling to get the angles right on the pilar pedestals between the windows. Not satisfied yet, they will still change and transform…nothing is glued yet, the roof, channels (actually chapter 11) and the pilars are still loose. Frank.
