Thank you...all. I can always change the ones that are flush. I've seen the flush ones in many logs and plans. Wasn't quite sure what to do. -

So I think these are called "standards," but I could be wrong. Please correct me if I am. I need to rename them "the bane of my day." I struggled with these. I also didn't glue them where the paint is in case I have to tear them out (which I really can't see me doing.) In the past, I've cut out the wale and placed them that way. Why I decided to try this method I do not know. Does anyone know why some are higher than the wales and others are flush? Just curious. I've seen it that way on many models. -

Making some progress albeit slow. I opted to keep the wales natural, so I picked the darkest walnut pieces I had. I have one more to install. Pic was taken before I installed a few more. The piece under the holes for the windows is just a temporary level you know like when you install upper kitchen cabinets. 😁 I started on the floor of the stern galley, but I must have removed it before the pic. Oh well. It will show up eventually. -

May need another coat and a few touch ups. The other side needs another coat for certain then on to the wales. I at least got the transom attached. -

Sanding is donne, so the fun has begun! Wales will border this line of decoration above and below. I'm not sure if the wales will be black or natural. -

@Seventynet thanks for the compliment. I went with 1 x 5 for 2nd layer. Up til this model, I've used veneers. I like the 1 x 5 better for a lot of reasons, but what I didn't count on was it shrinking. I have some hairline gaps that weren't there when originally planked. I can fix it, but I was still kinda dumbfounded by it. Oh wood is such a fickle entity. -

Thanks Patrick. As for painting a hull: never gonna happen unless it's for decorations. 😁 -

Well the hull is at least planked. It needs a good sanding (outdoors), but since it's about 0 degrees (- 18 C I think ) here, it will have to wait. I'll have to work in other things until a thaw graces the region. I'm undecided how to finish the hull as in stain, clear coat, etc. I'm happy to take suggestions. Some days I like the colour variations in the walnut and other days not so much. -

Name plate: make stencils and paint? Wood burner? Brass letters? Many options are available. You're pretty creative, so I'm eager to see what you settle on.
