  1. Hello Allan,

I have tried three times to order that book from them.

All three times failed, due to an issue with their payment modul.

I have written to them, but didn't get an answer- yet.

They may be out of business due to the pandemic?

    Thanks for the advice :)

    Best regards

    Jean-Philippe

  2. Hello, I am building a shipmodel " Le Superbe" of the 74 gunship from Mantua in scale 1:75

I have made several modelships before and used a contact in Eastern Europa (Radek) for

making the set of sails needed for the models.

Now, the contact is not responding anymore, therefore I am looking for a expert

    in sail making for modelships.

Do you know anybody making those kind of sails?

    Best regards

    Jean-Philippe Simon

  3. Hello fellow modellers,

I have built a model of the frigat L´Hermione for my father.

I live in Denmark and he lives in France.

    My question is:

How to transport safely and securely a shipmodel over a long distance?

    any ideas?

    Packaging?

    Thanks for your input :)

    Best regards

    Jean-Philippe

  4. Hi Rob and Mark,

I have been crawling the net..again..and wrote to the shipyard.

But just found out at they went out of business in 2009.

So, as you suggest, I will have to deduce the form of the hull.

For the decks, a precise interpretation of the pictures from the net is also the only

    way forward.

Such a pitty, not to be able to find some documentation of this beautiful ship :(

I will try to make some drawings of my build, so other model maker can use them.

    Have a wonderful weekend!

Hope you guys are not freezing in the US :)

    Philippe

  5. Hi guys,

    Thanks for your first input.

The total length has to be between 60 to 80cm.

I have been on the internet to find plans of the ship, without luck so far, Not even Taubman has it!

The german dockyard only build to of these ships, Seabourn Pride and Seabourn Spirit. Identical sisterships.

I have contacted Seabourn, but they are not willing to sell og show me their blueprints. The dockyard is out of business...

I am thinking building her with planks on bulkheads.

Actually, a great help could be to find a plan for a cruise line bulkheads in the same type as the Seabourn Spirit.

    Have a good weekend !

  6. Hello !

I usually build old ships, like the Victory.

My older brother and his wife has worked on the MS Seabourn star (former Royal Viking Queen) and

he would like me to build him a model of this beautiful cruise ship.

I don´t know how to approach this challenge....

What material I should use, and how to use plastic.

Does anybody has experience with this kind of build?

If you have any photos, ship plan, advice. Please do write me :)

    Thank you in advance !!

    Best regards

    Philippe

  7. Hello Frankie,

    Great looking sails!

I am about to decide whatever to put sails on my 1:98 Mantua Victory Kit.

I cannot find anywhere  a sail plan withe the correct measures....

I Have the Longridge book and others books about Victory, but they do not

come with more precisions about how to make the sails and what dimensions to use.

Do you have any clue where to find them? Maybe you do have those dimensions already ?

    Best regards

    Philippe

  8. Hello shipmates!

Here is some pictures of the current status of my built.

I am working now on the mast and the rigging.

Scratch building as I don't have anything from the original kit.

I think that 80% of my ship is now scratch built.

There's a few missing on the deck and the cannons hatch are not fastened yet,

Bur this is to give me some space while I work with all these ropes and wires.

    Enjoy :)

  9. Hello Phillipe..

Thank you for visiting my log and especially for your very complimentary words.  Yes, I do have the instructions and the plans for building the ship's wheel and the Binnacle.  If you are building the kit, the insructions are in the Hull Construction manual, page 27, 3rd and 4th paragraph.  The plans for both are on Plan sheet 4.  Please let me know what your status is. If you are not building the kit I will do my best to get you the information.

    Have a happy day,

    Jerry

    Hi Commander!

No, i don't have any plan or drawing of those two item (binnacle and ship whell.

I am not making a real kit, as I bought some rests from an old kit, and am working mainly as a scratch build.

Bur as I do have a kit plan (real poor one) I try to follow some of the instructions on it.

Unfortunatly, there is nothing at all about those two item.

Hope you can help me :)

    Best regards

    Philippe
