Rich.F reacted to Jerry in HMS VICTORY by Jerry - FINISHED - Caldercraft - Scale 1:72 - 1805 version
Hello Everyone.
Today was work on davits day and try and get them hinged to the starboard side and rigged. As everyone knows things take a lot longer, especially when your feeling happy and what you're working on is a model ship. However, I did manage to accomplish my goal and the the starboard davit is attached and rigged. Now all I need is a ship's boat to replace the clips hanging from the hooks. Here are some photos of the work as it was in progress. Please place your mouse ove the photo for its caption.
Many thanks...Jerry

Update time
The hull has been painted and the upper gun deck is awaiting installation of the guns.
When assembling the gun carriages I discovered that the brass etched eyelets part No. 480 make excellent breeching rings, just cut off the leg and attach them to the Cascabel with thick superglue. the scale is just right as study of the single photo of a gun illustrates. There are plenty of spares in the kit so shortages are not a problem.

Work progressing on the quarterdeck planking.
I have completed the screen assembly which has been dry fitted to the deck.
I have dry fitted the inner bulwalk and fully assembly a cannon to check their positions.
I'm pleased with the caulking effect also.
You can see I used a small basla support on the screen assembly.

Peter, I guessed a proxamite the center, built a few planks left and right and 3 high, with about a 10" × 5X1mm strip, made sure it had not warped,(Used a mirror),
Laid it on top of the few i had already glued, yep, my guide line.
My plan is to finish 6 high on the starboard side and the mirror image the port, then repeate 6x high,
Although,, laying in bed(2324)gmt, wondering if I should have started at the top so a nice edge patten will be visible. ?.
