Thanks Dimitris
A small update on the ship's launch. It's starting to come together a bit better now:
I ditched several ideas along the way here... The .5 x 3mm strip for the ribs is far too grainy to bend, and seemed to me to be too thick to look scale, so I used some veneer instead. I also decided to use ply from the pickle kit for the wales, as then I could cut and sand it to shape rather than trying to bend a 2mm strip (again, too thick?) against the widest dimension. By my reckoning the ribs end up about 6mm apart. I also ditched the former at the front and the "bench"? at the back as being way too thick. I've just planked the front with walnut, and I'll do the same at the back for the "bench".
The wales need a bit more sanding to make them more uniform, but otherwise I'm pleased with the progress so far. Next step, the "bench" at the back and then the 1x1mm strip and the brass decoration with the blue behind. Soon be onto the masts and spars
Has anyone turned the masts and spars for RYC on a Proxxon DB250 - I'm considering buying one to replace the mantua lathe I have (which really isn't man enough, and is dying slowly: not least, because the home-brew power supply I've been using has been providing too many volts to the motor - 14 instead of 12), but I'm wondering whether it's the best way to spend the money

When I finish this ship, It will be impossible to change Leds if they burn out or fail. So I will make 2 separate lines and use a small DIP switch to enable them.
The deck is too thin and when i light the LEDs you can actually see a ball of light beneath it. I used planks to fill the ceiling of the cabins and paint them black
all wires in place, there is a similar line of LEDs on the other side

I have tested white and standard yellow LEDs, I liked the yellowish ones.
Soldering SMD LED wasnt as easy as I was rememering it, after 5-6 tries managed to figure it out
Led tresshold is 2,5V, so I used two batteries providing 3V. I am going to use only five leds so 2 batteries should be ok.

Hello again...
I prepared the mainsail now in the way I told before. Takes patience and time - but both I have enough It is very satisfying to see the result when you go along the way the elder went too... they did never use just one rope to fix he sails... And... when you go as close as possible to the ship building in the 17th/ 18th century you understand the function of every rope, of every part... that is so amazing and so great with this hobby But to whom do I tell this ...
I attached a few pics to show the result, all the other sails will be managed the same way.

Hello everyone..
Before I take it easy for the rest of the evening I thought I might post some pictures of my work from the weekend and yesterday, a day off from work. I was very disappointed with Amati's method to build the belaying pin racks as their suggestion to use 1mm x 5mm strip wood was ridiculous. For one thing they're too narrow and too thin. As soon as I tried to drill the holes for the belaying pins, the wood split lengthwise. Jerry told me not to worry and that he would show me how to scratch build the racks from left over 1.5mm plywood he had. So I got another lesson on the scroll saw and drill press and together we made the racks, painted and installed them. The pictures follow:

You are most welcome JP...and..
I was able to get a little work done over the weekend even though Jerry didn't help me too much because of all the football games he wanted to see. But his favorite team (The Giants) won so he happily taught me how to make the bulwark stanchions which weren't too hard because I had a little experience using the chop cutter when doing the deck planking. I decided to color the gun port framings red just for the fun of it. Now it's another week of school and 8th grade kids.

Here is a little look as to what has happened since last post. I apologize for quality of pictures, this point and shoot camera is really not that good. Pictures explain what has happened so I won't bother to explain too much.
Next will be installing belaying pins, then install all deck furniture permanently then masts and rigging.
Have a Good One
