mtdoramike got a reaction from toms10 in Montanes by mtdoramike - FINISHED - OcCre - 1:70 scale - next donation project
It's been a a few days since an update has been posted on the Monte, so here is a few pics of the work that has been done on her in the last few days. I try to spend at least an hour a day working on her, but most of the time, I spend hours working on her.
Now, I haven't decided on the light blue on the lower stem section or paint it brown or black where it blends in. The over all shot is just to give you an idea of just how big this model really is.

I don't know if you can tell or not, but the Monte is going to be a bit colorful to say the least. Like I said before, I really like that blue.

I did a little more work on the Monte today and started or at least semi attached the transom on the rear to get an idea of how it will look and how to attach it.

absolutely beautiful, that's what I'm talkin about. I actually like the contrasting wood color. I like to use a little contrasting wood even in my planking just a little eye catcher.

Also separated the sails, marked them for position and ready to be installed onto the yards when and if I'm ready for them or if I decide to go with sails.

mtdoramike reacted to Seventynet in HMS Victory by Seventynet - Caldercraft - Scale 1: 72 - first build
Hi Mike, thanks and good advice. I will try that approach.
Don, I've never worked with teak before either and I'm not sure wood that old can be representative of the real thing. This wood is very open grained, nice to sand and somewhat soft.

Hi Zoltan, I just used PVA. I am not sure I detected a waxy character but in any case I spiled the teak planks so that should, hopefully will, mitigate any internal stress that might otherwise give the glue a hard time. Wow you learn something new everyday!

mtdoramike reacted to Paul0367 in HMS Victory by Paul0367 - Constructo - Scale 1:94 - First wooden ship build
Oh yes I'm still here, I was looking at your model in the final resting place and all the trouble you went too getting her there. She looks stunning Mike.
Mine will be completed one day but I'm in no rush and lifes complexities get in the way sometimes and other hobbies of course. She sits in her own room out of the way waiting to grow. The structures are complete now its just the canons (ahh) / nettings / ratlines / rigging / sails, if I make my mind up to have her dressed in sails, to do.
Hope your well
