Yep! Know it well ! Right across the valley from the Old Playboy Club and Resort. They changed the name of the ski area it seems, I remember it as Vernon Valley / McAfee ski area, used to ski there when I was a stationed at Picatinny Arsenal. Not far from my in-laws home. Admiral aand I used to drive right past it on way to visit them (route 94). Great area, Chuck! Heck of a lot more developed that I remember. Best of luck in the move. Oh the Admiral says you should visit High Point for some nice hiking 🚶♂️ 😀

He has not responded to any of my emails or PMs. I do know his house is on high ground and he has a Generax auxiliary generator so he has electric, but the Internet service in that area down. I'm sure between his Air Force training and his experience in Emergency Management in NJ he's pretty prepared but still that storm wiped out some cities and towns in that area -
I don't know about shaky hands but those figures look pretty darn good to me. I like your coiled rope jig also. Ship is looking really good, Andrew

Before you do that, I would wait until you actually get your new glasses, then take one of your figure pieces with you to your doctor's appointment and discuss your vision issues with him/her. When the doctor has the physical figure in front of him, seeing its actual size and how you hold it to paint, he can recommend ways to continue painting without straining you eyes or your financial budget. You're too good a modeler to give up just yet.

About the NRG
If you enjoy building ship models that are historically accurate as well as beautiful, then The Nautical Research Guild (NRG) is just right for you.
The Guild is a non-profit educational organization whose mission is to “Advance Ship Modeling Through Research”. We provide support to our members in their efforts to raise the quality of their model ships.
The Nautical Research Guild has published our world-renowned quarterly magazine, The Nautical Research Journal, since 1955. The pages of the Journal are full of articles by accomplished ship modelers who show you how they create those exquisite details on their models, and by maritime historians who show you the correct details to build. The Journal is available in both print and digital editions. Go to the NRG web site (www.thenrg.org) to download a complimentary digital copy of the Journal. The NRG also publishes plan sets, books and compilations of back issues of the Journal and the former Ships in Scale and Model Ship Builder magazines.
