    Here is the decoration for left quarter gallery almost finished. I was glad that everything fits accurately.

    Hello Michael, thank you very much for your comment. You are right - the paper, where the sculptures are shaped, comes from backing of self-adhesive foils. It is something like a wax paper and the clay do not stick to this material.     On all these ornaments are added tiny beads, which I shaped between my fingers (size of the beads is from 0.5 to 1.5 mm). Using tweezers I placed them onto ornament and slightly improved their shape. All 12 ornaments completed and ready for baking: After baking the ornaments were gilded, and later placed into model and improved by patina. Click on photos to view original size and enjoy them...     Here you can see tutorial, how I created new decorations: Everything is assembled from thin rollers. The modeling clay was rolled again by my finger on a smooth paper. I used tweezers to shape bottom side of the ornament. After that the modeling clay was gently transferred onto wax paper where I continued to shape the ornament. I shaped top of the ornament again using the tweezers and prepared another roller - much thinner than the original. I carefully glued it into place with tweezers and remove overlaps. Bonding areas were smoothed by a tip of pen.

    I finished gilded moldings on the starboard and bow and now I am going to make decoration beside the windows.

    Technology how to make these moldings from modeling clay Preparation - first I make a thin roller. The best tool for this job is a finger and smooth paper, it is necessary to roll modeling clay very gently .... Thickness of this roller is approximately 1.5 mm for these ornaments. Carefully transfer onto the wax paper, where the roller remains stick. Immediately it starts making patterns, I use various tools (tweezers, pens, micro pencil ets.), until the modeling clay is soft and shapeable. The edges should be slightly flattened - flat surface of tweezers usually helps: And further pattern, this time using the tip of pencil: Finished, now the decorations go to the oven... It is very important to keep tools as cool as possible, otherwise the modeling clay is sticky to them. I let the tools soaked in ice water all the time.

    I have just begun to work on the decoration, shape the strips from modeling clay (so far only for the port) and also improve some details at the model to reach more authentic look of the original.     The whole blue area on the hull will be decorated with many gilded sculptures and ornaments:

    Assembling the window frames and decorative strips Now the hull is ready for sculpting and I have to say, that I am looking forward to this phase from the beginning of the build. That is the main reason, why I have choosen Royal Caroline.

    The work continues with decoration in the main cabin and preparation the hull for decoration/sculpting. There is added first decorative strip made of modeling clay and wooden hems.

    The work on Caroline continued with main cabin, where I finished all side windows. Glass sheets are made of a clear DVD or CD pad. Window frames are made of paper and glued precisely on both sides of the glass (the glass is put without bonding). I have started with interior of main cabin, I made a base of wall panels (combination of paper and wooden look foils). Soon I am going to start with decoration of the hull, so there are added roofs above quarter galleries.

    Hello dear friends, I am pleased and honoured reading your comments. Thank you a lot. It makes me happy to share my models and technologies with you, especially if it is useful for other people and could help them to create own models. I also need advices and to achieve better results and more realistic models. I am not perfect and still learn. To Anja: Sovereign of the seas is my favourite sailing ship, I wished to create the model as realistic as possible. Sergal/Mantua wooden set was too expensive for me, so I decided to make a scratch build and used card and other available materials. I cooperated with two captains who helped me with realistic details. I spend more than 6000hours to build SoS.     After "stern sculpting" I continued in the rear cabin, where I have started with other decorations. I love this work!! Here are some pics:

    I have adjusted the position of the sculpture on the right side of the stern, because there was an asymmetry and it did not look nice. Now the lions are at the same height as Pegasus on the left.

    One of the most difficult sculptures on the model: Přináším nové fotky, jak jsem si pohrála s výdobou na zádi.

    Finally I started to decorate the model. All is hand-made from modelling clay as on attached videos. For shaping this clay I use pointed tweezers, tip of a pen and my fingers. All is made on a wax paper, not to stick the modelling clay to its surface after baking. I use golden enamel paint by Testors.
