  1. Hello dear friends , Thank you very much for your kind word, congratulations and comments. That is really an honour for me and i appreciate your attention a lot. All sculptures and decoration are made by my own. I wrote about it in this thread, you can also find a lot of pics and videos, how i made them. I know about the Mantua or Panart kits of Royal Caroline ( I have also seen another kit from China in a scale 1/30), but for me they are too expensive and have a low level of reality, so I have decided to make a scratch build. Oh, thank you dear friend, what a beautiful bouquet of flowers. I am sorry I was not here for a longer time. During summer i rarely have free time for making models, but in autum and winter it will be better. These days my husband and me are remaking the room, where are displayed all my models. There were also added new shelves for other ships.
  2. Hello dear friends, thank you a lot for your comments and congratulations, i am very honoured and grateful for your kind words. Sjors + Anja: You are always welcome on the board. Sjors: My husband often tells me, that he also feels like a Commodore, because i dedicated him some of my finished sailing ship and he is very proud. For me he is a great partner for more than 13 years and i appreciate his patience with me and my hobbies. Thank you Mike, for me it is easier to create models from these materials, but also try to use wood and I have started to like it. That´s O.K. , thank you for your congratulations. I am pleased i can share my models with you. Only the English language and correct expression is a bit problem for me, but I will try to improve. Kind regards to all, Doris
  3. Hello Sherry, accept my admiration to your work, I have a respect of making wooden models and your skills are really superb. Especially i love the interior and all the details in the cabin. I wish you much success in the work. Kind regards, Doris
  4. Thank you, dear friends, I am pleased and appreciate your comments and congratulations a lot. I am also glad and honoured, you like my work on Royal Caroline. I love sailing ships and that´s the reason why i like making their models. When I have more free time I would like to create here at MSW another build log with my Royal William scratch build, that´s also a card model. Hope, you will enjoy it as well. Oh, I have just remembered, there is a birthday party on Royal William, so who wants to join? Now there are only a few officers, but at night the fun begins..... Kind regards, Doris
  5. Thank you Janos and Sjors for your kind words! And here are other pics, where you can see anew gilded decoration, I suppose now it looks better. Some parts were added on keel (for example horseshoe).
  6. Some painting were changed according to Cleveley´s portrait of Royal Caroline: New and longer catheads:
  7. Hello dear friends, Thank you very much for your comments. And also thank Anja and Sjors for congratulations . Your words mean a lot to me. What´s new on Royal Caroline.... Today i am bringing newest pics, there are finished some details on the fore deck (belfry and other fitting with belaying pins). All is hand made (except the bell) without using special tools.
  8. Hello dear friends, thank you very much for your comments and kind words, I am pleased and appreciate your favor a lot. Please, excuse my absence, I have remembered you a lot and looked forward to returning. Now I continue with modeling, not only with Royal Caroline, but also with another ship - Royal William (a scratch build from card). http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=65285&p=1472555#p1471636 And moreover I am making some plastic models of sport cars.http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=155&t=76469&start=45#p1465823 I have changed some parts and colours on Royal Caroline to achieve more realistic result.Tomorrow I will bring new pics and description. I would need more time for everything, but during summer holidays it could be better (maybe). Kind regards Doris
  9. Finished ( some details are improved or changed): Kind regards and enjoy the pics Doris
  10. And the best in the end - of course the decoration... before baking: after baking and painting ( gold Testors enamel + patina):
  11. And the work continues with catheads including decoration....There are also finished holes for anchor ropes. Catheads:
  12. The hand pumps are modified compared to plans. I made them according to advice and a picture, that sent me Captain KL., who helps me to achieve more realistic result. http://modelforum.cz/viewtopic.php?f=177&t=68385&start=510#p1445380 There was a too little space between pumps and the walls/corners (refer the picture from Anatomy of RC). Modified handpump:
  13. And now Royal Caroline... I have finished another extension before the main cabin and made again the gilded crowns on the doors ( the new ones are better i suppose... ) and also finished the hand pumps.
  14. Hello dear friends, I appreciate your comments a lot and thank you for your support. It is sometimes hard to make various things of wood or metal without suitable tools. So i prefer to use card/ paper as a main material for my models. BUT, for my models I naturally need some accessories made of wood and here i cooperate with people who offer CNC accessories in a high quality for ship models. Here are some accessories that I bought in our country from Radek Beseda. He also sends these CNC blocks and other things and models to foreign countries, so if you are interested, you can look through his web pages and contact him. I am very satisfied with his approach and willingness. http://www.radekshipmodels.cz/en/ http://www.radekshipmodels.cz/en/list-of-kits-and-accessories/accessory---blocks
  15. Hello Danny! Your work is absolutely perfect and awesome. That´s a great inspiration, what is possible to create. Thank you for description and sharing the pics from the progress. I cannot still pick up my jaw from the floor.... My admiration to your masterpiece. Kind regards, Doris
  16. Hello dear friends! Thank you very much for your comments and kind words, that´s a great honour for me and also a large motivation and commitment to build my models as well as possible to be worthy of your words. For making models I use mostly card/paper (I prefer it, because i have a lot of experience with this material and do not need any special tools). Some details are made of wood (nut or fruit trees) to reach more solid/stronger result or sometimes it looks better and the work is easier than using paper. For example the lower part of capstan is wooden but the upper round part is completely made of paper and finished with self-adhesive foils that look like a real wood. The star on the top is also made of foil. The base under the capstan is made of card and also modified by wooden-look foils. The small wedges on the base are wooden. Crew members and all decoration on the model are hand made from modeling clay (FIMO). I do not use 3D printer ( but it is perfect machine, i know...). I prefer (and i like it more) to create anything on the model by my own. I know, there are mistakes and things i should improve, so I have still motivation to search new ways and techniques..... I have no special tools and workroom, so I try to use the simplest way and process as possible. Here are most of my tools and things i use for making models: Kind regards, Doris .
  17. Hello Sjors! Your model looks awesome, great work. I am looking forward to next progress and wish you all the best and a lot of joy during the build. Best regards, Doris
  18. Thank you for your comments, Danny and Sjors. To Danny: No problem to explain how I create this or that. I usually take some pics (sometimes videos) from the process - it is better to understand the tutorial and description. After two days of careful work i have finished the capstan - it is made according to plans from the book Anatomy of Royal Caroline. I used wood (nut), card and self-adhesive foils (with wooden and gilded look - for the star on the top). The nail heads are created with thick colour ( gun metal + flat black - mini acrylic paint from Tamiya). For application I use a metal tip from micro-pencil (0,3mm).
  19. The companionway (the longer and brighter are purchased as a complete part, the darker are made by me) The lower part of the chimney in the final color:
  20. Hello dear friends, I am very privileged reading your words and recognition. Thank you very much for your comments, i appreciate them a lot. Hello John, I prefer to make more realistic models to express admiration to our ancestors who were able to build these beautiful ships and sail with them on the sea. I am very grateful to all people, who give me useful advices to achieve more realistic and better result. And this year we had really white Easter. It was snowing during all day and in the evening there was almost 50 cm of snow. The pics on Czech forum comes from the morning (with only 30cm of snow). I am really pleased, i can share my hobby with other people. I also find here a lot of great models and inspiration in various threads. And BTW - I want to improve my English - sometimes it is difficult to find the right terms and describe exactly all things..... So excuse please my mistakes. Thank you for you kind words. I will be working on Royal Caroline at least another year and i am going to bring tutorials, how to create various things on the model. Hello Dany, I am honoured, you like my sculpting. In this scale (1/40) it is more enjoyable making details insluding sculpting. I learned and trained a lot during Sovereign of the seas scratch build - there i had to create about 2200pieces of gilded ornaments and sculptures. I wanted to continue with this work (i really like it) on my next project, so i decided to build Royal Caroline - she has also extensive decoration. Best regards, Doris
  21. Hello Bill, I have just browsed through your thread and really enjoy seeing your great masterpiece. I admire your beautiful carvings and sence for realistic rendition. My respect! Kind regards, Doris
