Nice job, Matt. Your attention to detail now will really pay off as you progress.

I finally completed the cannon boxes on the starboard side... It is surprising how long this takes.  But it is what it is, and takes as long as it takes.  These really need to be right, or planking will not come out quite right.  To fit these is going to take some fine-tuning, but they are pretty close now.  I cut them pretty large so that they could be perfected in the fairing process.  This is only the one side done of the gun deck.  Now, I have to do the other side, and then start on the yard deck carronades.  It may be slow, tedious work, but very important for the final appearance of the ship... A smooth and gentle curve from bow to stern, with all muzzles aligned with one another.

These are just dry fit, as I said.  I have to build the other side now before fitting can actually start.  I probably shouldn't even post such minutia, but it does feel like and accomplishment when you get this sort of thing completed.  Lots of measuring and cutting.  But knowing you did it right is worth the work.

Very good job on the weathering. Reminds me of the fishing boats down at my Uncle's cabin in Louisiana. They have that same rugged, neglect look that you have recreated. I may have to try your technique when I weather some of my structures on my model railroad.

    hello everybody

I have made some progress with painting the hull, I used acrylic. I applied double sided tape or masking fluid while weathering. double sided tape application removes some random parts of the paint, when you repaint it with a diluted paint or leave it as it is, then you have a weathered appearence.

in the last picture you see my cat "Köfte"  (meatball) examining the art piece and making suggestions

I think I'm going to leave the bowsprit as is; I have seen pilot cutters like this with a similar arrangement, plus I don't feel I'm at a stage in my skill to do much modifying.  I am unsure of what to do with the stern.  Many variations of this kit have the top of the upper transom squared off and flush with top edge of the bulwarks.  My vintage has a curved arc going above the bulwarks. I like the curve, but I'm not sure how I would cap off the plywood as of yet.  If I can't figure out something I like, I will probably end up cutting it flush down to the bulwarks.

This is marvellous work. The amount of details you have captured at such a small scale astounds me. Not an easy task I am sure. Very nice. I like the selection of a modern yacht as well.

    Hi everyone!

Thanks for all of your comments and Likes - greatly appreciated.

Tonight I've had heaps of fun building a few more chairs in the main saloon and the bridge deck's lounge area.  In order to bring the whole ship to life, I added a whole series of colourful scatter cushions to them.

    Here are the photos.

    All the very best!

    Cheers

    Thanks Keith!

It's a tight fit, I must admit. A lot depends upon the thickness of the material that I use for bulkheads, cabinetry, etc, because at this scale, it's inevitable that things can easily become over-scale. I guess that's just the trade off that one has when building at this tiny size. Fun though.
    All the best!

    Patrick
