I think you may have miss understood my post Alexander. The Russian English translator is not the best.I really don't know what it must have said at the other end I meant it was your choice to say who you produce these carvings for.I know you are posting on here to show how you do it and I am sure I speak for everyone when I say we are very grateful for you doing this.
    Kind Regards

They are coming on well mate   Given their ridiculously small size and the fact the timber you are using isn't ideal for carving,I think you are doing an outstanding job on these

Here's a small update on the jacks:

Carving the roman soldiers. The real ones are very corroded and little details can be seen, so I went for a design I liked.

Just a word of caution guys. If you are going through the expense of buying your ropes, plan very carefully every rigging step. Remember that ropes are the commodity that is the most wasted in our hobby, (IMO). Just think how much rope there is actually in a knot, and how much rope you need to tie it, then you trim off a large amount of thread. Use a locally available cheap thread to do your seizings; don't waste your expensive rope here. Also, when calculating how much rope you are going to need for your ship, take into account the coils. Some people don't and then fall short.

    Hope this helps!

    Hi Michael
I do see where you are coming from there.I cannot be doing with the faff of making my own,I would rather spend the time on other parts of the build.I too am considering ordering in from Chuck, including replacing the kit blocks with Pear ones, for my Caroline build.I haven't taken a sidestep to assess my requirements yet.

Nigel, it was really tricky to get that stage right. Having to estimate the correct lines and then not know until way later in the build.

Lawrence, thanks for the kind words mate! They will help me to continue the work with the other jacks.

Well,...opening this thread just cost me an arm and a leg. I couldn't hold back any longer and the 20% discount pushed me over the edge......I should soon be the proud owner of the Le Renommee. There is one particular version of it displayed on their site that has inspired me for some time.  Thanks for the heads up about the discount... I think......LOL

Last entry for the cockerel. Customer sent photos, which already figure on the model. So I decided to show them to you. This model is not finished yet and its final form has changed. Somewhere added trim. But much can be estimated now.

A busy few days have resulted in my first work at the fore end of the ship. The items made and added are the hawse holes (inner end), the bolsters and bucklers, the manger, a scuttle, the bowsprit bitts and the fore riding bitts.

I decided to do the inner part of the hawse holes to allow me to do the other interior work at the bow. I won't do the outer part until I'm ready to do the exterior bow work, such as the knees and head work. The bolsters above and below the hawse holes were cut and shaped from boxwood sheet, using the kit parts as rough templates. The bucklers were cut to fit from boxwood strip.

The manger boards and supports were made from boxwood strip and shaped to fit the bulwark contours.

I made the scuttle coaming from boxwood  strip and the grating from the laser cut kit part, as I had with the various hatches previously made. The fore riding bitts were made from boxwood with a piece of pear for the face of the crosspiece. Ringbolts were added to the standards. The bowsprit bitts were done with boxwood strip. In order to do the the bowsprit bitts, I cut a piece to represent the forecastle deck beam to which they are fitted and also cut a piece of dowel to represent the bowsprit. The last two photos show these fitted in place temporarily.

All of the boxwood parts were finished with Wipe-on Poly. The bitts were pinned and glued to the deck.

    Thanks for the kind comments!

Steve, ah thanks for telling me their english name, sorry!  Mine do have problems and crudeness, but when I started this build I wanted to accept that it's my first time for many techniques so they will be used as they are.

Nigel, hmm, nope, no added pics but I didn't use the insert option but linked them the first posts, so the pics seem to be missing sometimes.

    Frank, thank you!

Sos, many thanks, I'm glad for your comment and am really impressed by your finished build!

    Hello boys,
after have read the interesting topics concerning Euromodel productions I have decided and have just purchased a Royal William kit from Euromodel site.
They have a fantastic discount sale going on at the moment and thought it was worth passing on to interested persons.
I hope that was useful to anyone interested in these kits.

Here are the two I've done, they still need the iron details on the sides.

I made them smaller compaired to what the BB plans suggested to get them in better scale.

They could definately be better but it's my first attempt to wood carving and its very different to me.

NMBROOK got a reaction from lapwing in Proxxon MF70 opinions and accessories
    Hi Keith
You are correct in that no accessories are included, however the step clamps are as well as a full set of collets.I think a lot depends on what you intend to do with the machine.I have found it ideal for small work which was my reason for buying. There are larger more capable machines out there but my reasoning was there would be more of a luxury and the advantage size wise would be of little advantage compared to the big jump in price.I bought the vice, rotary head and tools together with the machine in order to maximize it's potential.
I have found that the Proxxon cutters are extremely good and having only two flutes are optimized for the higher cutting speeds. With the supplied collets you can also use many of the woodcutting burrs from the Dremel/Proxxon range.
As regards squaring the workpiece to the quill,I either have machined packers to support the workpiece or measure the face to be machined with the depth gauge of a digital vernier to the table. You cannot rotate the z axis,so this remains square the the milling table.I have yet to find the need for a centre finder.

    Kind Regards Nigel

    Hello dear friends,
I am very honored reading your posts and feeling the support you devoted me. Thank you a lot for your kind words, I really appreciated them. Let me express my gratitude to you all.

    Hello Vivian,
well, sometimes I get some offers, but i prefer to keep the models  - i build them for a pleasure and joy. Some of my ships I dedicated to my husband.

Dear Sjors, you are so kind to me, but there are a lot of things, i should improve in my work to achieve really high quality of models. I am still learning.

    Hello Mark,
I try to make some weathering for more realistic result. I used Tamiya "powder weathering" - it is easy to apply.

Thank you very much for your advice, dear Guy, I think, now it is better and easily available to search.

To all: I admire your work a lot, it is a big inspiration for me and this forum - MSW has brought me a lot of priceless advice and a great support from kind and friendly people, who help me very much. Thank you for that.

    Best regards

Little update on the ship, haven't had much free time for modelling...

The ornamentation on the left side of the ship is mostly done. Also I have done the decorative "sprouts" on both ship sides.

Work on the beakheads also started. I was thinking for a long time how to build them as I see this as quite a challenging work. Finally decided to use the brass rails that came with the kit which were bent and then I applied Sculpey. After baking it was sanded and then repeated this process several times.
They will be blackened and also I will create and put the ornaments there...

    Best regards,
    Jan
