Having fun is the name of our game. And you are doing a splendid job, Patrick! Not to imitate Dennis with eagle-eyes, Looking through your pictures, I saw a hole in the floor, looks like along a passageway. Will that be for some stairs or a possible exhaust funnel on Shadow?

Hi Folks
Thanks for all of your likes and comments. Much appreciated!
Another quick update. I've been working on the Entrance Lobby on the Main Deck. The Lobby is positioned directly forward of the Main Saloon and is where the guests would embark and disembark from the ship when dockside.
In true mega-yacht style, I've decided to go for the glitzy "wow" appearance. In doing so, the walls of the Lobby have been lined with gold and silver bands (the silver bands would actually be mirrors in the real ship). Unfortunately, my poor macro-photography skills means that it's really hard to see the actual effect, but, well, trust me it, it looks ok. I've also adorned the walls with some cabinetry and wall units for guests to rest their 'what-nots' on.
Having heaps of fun here...
I hope you enjoy the photos.
Cheers
Patrick

Hi Folks!
Just a very quick update for you all. I've added a bit more detail to the Main Saloon; namely the side cabinets and two small single armchairs that are situated at the rear of the saloon. And...just to add a bit of life to the scene, I've deliberately placed the dining table chairs in a haphazard fashion, just to give the impression of the guests leaving the table in a hurry. Maybe it was something they ate???
Also,if you look closely enough, in one of the photos you'll notice that I've added the individual placemats on the saloon table.
They're admittedly hard to see because they're so tiny, but trust me, they're there!
Cheers

Hello Marc. Am pulling up a chair to follow this progress even if a little late. Keep up the great modeling!
I really enjoyed also reading your construction of Yacht Mary, as currently am working on that same model. Have those same two books about Utrecht from Seawatch Publishing, and I find them very useful. Seems that Mamoli made mistakes with bow of Mary after reading those Seawatch books and doing own research about the Dutch statenjachts. Mary should have had a bow same to the Utrecht.

Hi folks!
Thanks for all of your Likes and comments!
Well, she's getting there, albeit slowly. It may not actually look like there's been a lot done since my last update, but a lot of the work has been devoted to building more cabins and a myriad of other fine measurements and trimming of bits and pieces here and there.
Anyhow, I thought you may like to see where she's at via the following photos.
Have a good week!
Cheers

I also ended the little boat; I have to pass only a coat of matte varnish

The main canon is in place and fully rigged. I also built the cradle that the boat will sit in. I initially did some reach to find an image of a period correct cradle, but in the end, I just designed my own.
Yesterday, i turned the four small 1lb. canons. They came out ok. Turning pieces that small on a full size lathe and getting all the canons to look identical is a challenge.
Practice makes perfect.

I ended up turning the cannon from a piece of ebony and finished it with a coat of metallic dye (Transtint). I think it adds a nice depth of color and perhaps tricks the eye into thinking it's brass.

Really appreciate that. Yep, you're right, though. The cabins are TINY. I'm really beginning to wonder just what I've gotten myself in for, because there's not a hell of a lot of detail that I can add in them...but I'll try my best.
Oh well, at least I'm having heaps of fun (and satisfaction). Can't ask any more than that, I guess!
Have a great week.
Cheers

Hi folks
A quick update for you all - Shadow's interior accommodation continues to grow, albeit slowly. So far, I've been concentrating on building the layout of all the cabins located within the Bilge, Lower and Main decks. Getting these in the correct locations is vital, otherwise, the various staircases connecting the decks would be askew. Trust me, that would not be a good look!
Oh well, there's still heaps of fun to go.
Have a great week, everyone!
Cheers
