I like a lot what you are doing on your model, Karl! Your work is amazing. What are you using for your windows if I may ask?

Another update from my shipyard. Word has it that some early construction is being started on the hawse timbers and a horizontal piece that will help support those timbers from underneath. The yard crew is also hoping to potentially start making the deck soon.

The Mamoli plans I am using have one major error as you will see in my enclosed pictures. Mamoli shows the Yacht Mary having a typical bulb round English bow, which is not historically accurate. The books about the Utrecht (Available on Seawatchbooks.com) show and tell how the Dutch Statenjachts at the time had a more square bow, similar to that of the American Whaling fleets. Once under the horizontal timbers, the bow timbers would be angled in at forty-five degree segments.  The Dutch book 17 de eeuws Statenjacht  will show the same information.

It took a bit longer to finish than desired, but I finally have the second frame now in place in the stern. I am going to need to fill in some spaces around the deadwood, thankfully I have a lot of that saved up. Enjoy the pic.

    Hi folks

Thanks for all your likes and comments!

Woohoo!!!!  After a few failed attempts, I've finally managed to pull together two reasonably passable 5-bladed propellors for Majellan.  At the moment, they're temporarily fitted in the hull.

Have a squizz at the photos and you'll see that they look the part, albeit maybe not totally accurate in terms of the directions of the blade's pitch, (i.e. I think that the real ship would have left and right handed props to counteract the torque...maybe.. don't quote me on it, because I really have no idea what I'm talking about     ), but at least they look ok from about a metre away.

    Cheers and all the best!

    Hi everyone

Thanks for all of your comments and Likes!  Denis, thanks also for the info on Lepidoptera.  I can see why they hold such fascination for you.

Tonight, I added the railings that sit amidships on the main deck.  They're fiddly and I'm not sure that I've really done them justice, but at this scale, some compromises had to be made.

I've also added a bit more detail to the foscle.

I hope you like the photos.

    All the best!

    Cheers

    Hi folks

Not long to go before Majellan's finished!

I've added the anchors into the anchor-wells and added the capstan drums and bollards (temporarily placed at this stage)  at the focsle.  At the rear, Majellan's tender and one of her jet-ski's are ready for launching on the rear fold-down deck. The second jet-ski will be mounted some distance behind the hull; once the display stand has been built.

Enjoy the rest of your weekends!

    Cheers

Hi everyone and thanks for all of your comments and Likes!

Well....look what Majellan's naughty rich guests have done.  They've dragged their chairs up to the tiny piece of deck in front of the Bridge's windows.  What's more, one cheeky guest has even brought up her own umbrella to shade from the sun!  And all of this in full view of the Captain!

    Outrageous, I say!

Anyhow, in reality, I've added the umbrella, a table and an assortment of chairs to bring some 'life' to this part of the bridge deck.  To further add atmosphere, the chairs are haphazardly pointing in different directions, as if to give the impression that the guests have just left in a hurry.

I hope you enjoy the photos.

    Cheers

thanks Marc and Bug.........appreciate the kind word!

I didn't do too much at the table yesterday.......I keep thinking that I need to get the clutter off of both tables though.   I did a little 'mind modeling' to the trawler........but I did manage to take the Jingle Belle out of the closet,  and got a chance to get a few shots of the new fleet.   though only the two of them are left,  the two hull designs kinda look odd to me.   I then though that if I went and did the Rouse Simmons....it would still look the same.   speaking of the Rouse Simmons.......I found a book on her and a few other schooners that took part on the tree trade in that time period.  it's short,  but I thought it was some good reading:

    https://books.google.com/books?id=jry5GQi1NOcC&pg=PA220&lpg=PA220&dq=george+L.+Wrenn+-+schooner&source=bl&ots=c-YZFMj4jg&sig=berv2SV-yMxvp2eEM-JWcpPbDYs&hl=en&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjH0e-ZuqXOAhXFVT4KHV_6DWYQ6AEIHDAA#v=onepage&q=george%20L.%20Wrenn%20-%20schooner&f=false

I hope you can view it......I was looking up the George L. Wrenn when I found it.    anyway.....here are the pictures I took of the two boats.......I hope you enjoy

Thanks Carl and Lawrence for your compliments above!  A special thanks, also, to all who added their Likes as well.

Just a quick update so far.  Tonight I added the chrome flashing around the bow's port and starboard anchor wells.  They don't look too bad; contrasting nicely against Majellan's black hull.  I also tried my hand at doing one of her two anchors.  Not  a bad try, I thought. I'll see if I can do any better and once satisfied, I'll paint them a silvery  colour.

I hope you enjoy the photos, folks.

    All the best!

    Hi everyone

Thanks for all of your Likes and comments - greatly appreciated!

I've taken a short break from the Lower Deck's accommodation to focus on finishing off the ship's Bridge (located on the Bridge Deck, of course!).  Principally, I've added a couple of cabinets and other assorted items to give the bridge some degree of credibility.  I've also made the all important "Skipper's Chair", which can be seen in a few of the photos.

Lastly, located just aft of the bridge itself, on the starboard side, is a small washroom with a toilet in it.  I've started fit this out as well.  All that's required to be added is the toilet bowl itself. Later folks, later...

I hope you like these photos.

    Cheers

Hey, still alive (hah, hah).  Still very much intend on finishing this (as well as multiple other projects in the future).  I have been slightly side tracked lately with another project (still nautical though!) (and still wood!) - a PBY Catalina float plane.  45" wing span.  The ship waits patiently.

I have become a lurker lately.  Thanks to everyone for their progress shots that keep the creativity fires burning!
