After many years of useing kits as the base for modelling, I started my first scratch model. Therefor I have choosed a smal ship, not a big one like my HMS Agamemnon.
 
On the Mediterranean took place since the end of the 17th century two particularly fast, lean and sharply built sailing vessels whose hull was probably developed from the galley and the caravel: a native of Venice Galeotte and Xebec. The warships of Geneva and Venice, and also well known as the ships of the northern African pirates.
 
At the same time Pinco was the typical merchant ship in the Mediterranean. In principle, a Xebec. However, not so fast, lean and sharply built, but with a good load carrying capacity.
Typical of these ships was the double rigging. In good weather latin sails. In bad weather square rigged.
 
I like this Mediterranean ships, and last but not least at the stern of the Pinco are not so much decorations. I have never before carved such ornaments, but I will do my very best.
 
I began the build August 15. by the plans from Euro Modell Como.
 

 
Before I started the first planking, it was necessary to make the transition in the forecastle completed. After the first planking I do not get off there.
 

 
 
I have made the first planking in a special way. 3mm plywood strips are glued between the bulkheads. The bow and stern sections are filled with balsa. After sanding is the result a strong base for the second planking

I didn't find any information how the scuppers are to be made, and where there position is. And this is my solution: after reinforcing the bulwark at the positions, drilling in the scuppers.

Since the beginning of May was little time for Utrecht. Some rather interesting jobs took precedence.

It feels good to be building again but I see I’m back in my old habits.  I build and forget to take pictures until I finish, so no one sees what I do.   If anyone is interested in how I do a part or process please ask.  Anyway this is where I am for now.

It realy was tricky with the soldering, with the second prop it hapened once (only payed a second less attention to the heatflow than I should have.... per gas tourch) and all 4 blades dropped from the hub, as I was soldering on the last one, causing a delay and keeping cool to get everthing set up for a new try again

Many centuries watertransport was the fastest and most comfortable way of traveling on the coasts and along the big rivers in Europe. By towing with horses along the rivers and canals. By sail across the open waters.
 
The statenjacht was the Rolls Royce of this passenger ships. Used to move fx company executives or other VIPs from place to place to execute their jobs.
 
It was the time of the Barroque. So this ships were fitted out with most comfortable state cabins, bedrooms, kitchens, and last but not least magnificently decorated.
 
 
At first I had in mind to build the HMY Mary from 1670. Only her decorations and paintings were very complicated.
 
The Utrecht, however, seems to me a bit simpler decorated. Moreover, in the books of Seawatch books are very good plans of this ship.
 
I build the Utrecht in scale 1:36. As POF model. However, I'm doing the frames of10mm plywood. Since the frames are not seen through the planking, solid wood is too good for this job in my eyes.
