That is awesome!
I try not to think of it as being immature but instead maintaining childlike happiness and wonder at the world around me.... 😂😀
Of course I am currently rolling around on the floor with my puppy and trying to type this on my phone so maybe the Admirals are on to something.... 😜
Im glad I could bring laughter into your build. It is always a good relief as I know I sometimes find myself stressing a little too much when building. Good to relax!

Shrouds and ratlines have taken over this weekend! While I didn't quite get them all done, I made a very good dent and should probably be done with one or two more hours of work. I am also rather please to say that I even built the shroud pairs correctly this time! So, I hope to finish up the ratlines later this week and then rig the stays. I am ready to be done with ratlines!!!!

Hi Mates,
So need to work backwards again. Finishing up the mizenmast crow’s feet, now thinking of how to attach the needed futtock stave, and then the light came on.
Futtock plate connectors all wrong; need to remove those (what was I thinking) and replace them with small rigging hooks. This will need to be done for all three lower platforms.
I did not initially see rigging hooks on Vasa, but certainly what I have is worse because then I can’t continue the crow’s feet to the platforms. Still learning.
Topmast platforms will all be OK as is.
Cheers,

I'm looking for rough pear wood 8/4 in the US. Don't seem to be having any luck what so ever.
Anyone one have suggestions that are not in this post?
Thanks in advance.

This may be a stupid question, but...
How do you make a brass nails flush with the wood? The only way I know is sanding, and it is hard to do on convex surfaces or in any confined place. But on your photos I see brass nails perfectly flush, and in places where I can't imagine getting with a sanding block. What is the trick?

Mike,
No question is stupid.
I use files to make the nails flush with the wood. For convex surfaces I have curved files as you can see in the first picture, the second and the third file. Both have a flat surface in section but the third one is pointed so if I use it closer to the point it will file a smaller surface. For even trickier places I have a curved file with a half round section - the third in the second picture.
Hope this answer your question.

zoly99sask reacted to jhearl in Scale Hardware back in business
Those of you who have purchased tiny nuts and bolts from Scale Hardware in the past will recall that they went out of business a while back. I just got an email this morning from Model Motorcars, Ltd. to inform that they have bought the Scale Hardware name and stock and will continue to produce their products. Here's a link to the new site:

Yes, the IKEA table BEKANT is great, I still love it as on the first day I bought it Note that IKEA sells the electrical frame separately as well, so you can put any solid tabletop on it, and not being limited to the default office-style top.
Just a few corrections:
1) The one with cranking mechanism have a much cheaper frame and wobbles too much for our purposes, I think. Could be good enough for drawings or tools, or if you do not mind the wobble. The electrical (bekant) is very stable and the wobble is close to non-existing, so it can be used as a main workbench.
2) The electrical one (BEKANT) has a continuous adjustment, not just 2 or 3 positions. There are two buttons - up and down - that allow to adjust it to any position between min and max. Just hold the button, table moves, release it when you are in the desired position. It is roughly 5-7sec from the lowest to the highest position.

Roughly, 62 frames are made of 1000 parts, each part has 4 sides to sand.
The setup is as follow : inside curve, ends, outside curves.
Then the tracing paper is remove with a scraper. A faster method is to pass the parts in the sanding drum, This machine is quite precise, much more than a planer because the adjustment can be made in 0,001 inch increment.
Frames part are divided in 3 groups : left, center and right components.
Left and right are put aside to keep the center parts which are going to be use to prepare the keel.

thanks Zoltan.......I hope to be planking the deck. if all goes well........I will be
Dr. Per......I heard that there was a count associated with the like button before the site update. now I'm hearing that the update nulled this count and that the like button means nothing. I didn't care about rank back then.........I'm not into the count thing either. the only factor as far as reputation goes that I go by, is how one conducts themselves on the site. I don't need a quantifier to tell me that I'm just an average Joe here. the site will change from time to time, but as long as I can still value friendship, that's good enough for me

Denis,
Do you mean its being used to much?
Sorry in that case I have no solution.
