donrobinson got a reaction from captgino in Trabakul by donrobinson - FINISHED - MarisStella - 1:32 scale
Well I don't have much to show for the past month. The fore shrouds on the starboard side are complete. These are relatively easy to complete as only the bottom shrouds have ratlines, of which there is only 15 spaced at 15 mm or 19" in real life. Along with ratlines there are two pinrails and three stretcher rails(for lack of better terminology). Another surprise for all the non-lovers of ratlines is only one set of shrouds per side gets ratlines!!! So only the shrouds that are on the opposite side of the spars get ratlines. Gotta luv that.
Showing the different pieces for the shrouds.
Final picture is showing my set up for taking pictures, needs a white sheet hanging on the wall but I just can't bring myself to putting up a sheet on my dining room wall.
More updates hopefully sooner than this one was.

Popeye: Thanks, happy you stopped by
Elijah: Thanks, the lighting is finally working good. I just bought a 35 mm dslr so I need a lot more light than compared to a I Phone.
Mike: Thanks for stopping in, I use the Domanoff machines, ropewalk and serving. Currently I have been using Gutermann cotton thread to make all my ropes and for serving

Hello Ian, hope you and your wife are enjoying the holiday. Some of the rope is made here at home, I wasn't going to mention anything as I did not think it looked that good in the pictures. I still need some practice. The ratlines are awesome, 15 tied(45 knots) and I'm already half done!!

Hi Mike, Thanks for stopping in. I used Gutermann thread for the serving line. For taking pictures a flat sheet works great no texture and they absorb some of the light preventing the shine like you see in my pictures. You can get them for around $10, next time I will put one up and you will see the difference.

donrobinson got a reaction from Canute in Marisstella RAGUSIAN galley 1/75. Someone has one?
I have not built this one yet, it is on my list, but I can assure you that the quality of the MarisStella kits are excellent. I have built, am building and have some them on the shelf waiting to be built and am totally impressed with their kits. Zoran at MarisStella is always there to help and is happy to do so.
All their plans are very detailed and accurate all measurements can be taken off the plans, when reading the plans keep 3d in mind and not 2d as in most plans. I have a set of the plans for the galley and looking at them I can't see any problems arising. A very good bonus with this particular ship is there is no ratlines, which is always a good thing.
I am not sure as to how skilled you are in model ship building but I would say this one would be a 6 out of 10 in the difficulty scale, 10 being the hardest. Have a look at my Trabakul, Batelina and Stefano logs in my signature to see the box contents.
