CDW got a reaction from Canute in P-38J Wicked Woman by DocRob - FINISHED - Tamiya - 1/48
I really admire your work, Rob. I know how difficult it is to get a near-perfect natural metal finish like that. Beautiful. And I love that subject too, it's always been a favorite of mine the P-38.

For me, even after all the years of doing it, it's never perfect. But being satisfied is 99.9% of the end result desired.

That's a very fine model with an excellent selection for markings. The aluminum finish is brilliant.

Some pics under bright sunlight with the now finished prop spinners. Unfortunately it is very windy, so no risky angles, the wicked woman would have gone airborne .
Cheers Rob

CDW reacted to mtaylor in SU-85 WW2 Soviet Tank Destroyer by CDW - MiniArt - 1:35 Scale
Weathering of the type we seldom see on models. Very well done. So well done, it makes me want to shiver.

Stretched clear sprue for the icicles and Vallejo gel. Don't want to get too carried away with icicles, just keep it to a minimum.
I agree with what Rob said and want to go back to create a melting effect where the show is touching the exhaust port shrouds and partially on the engine deck. Will try the gel there (maybe).

CDW reacted to Old Collingwood in Lotus 72D by gsdpic - FINISHED - Tamiya - 1/12
Nearly brought a Lotus many many years ago - but was put off by the service costs and insurance, loved the name they got Lots Of Trouble Usually Serious.
OC.

I hope you are patient
And and thanks to the others for the likes.
I've now pretty much completed the engine. The gear box, along with rear suspension and rear brakes, is next.
I painted the engine block with metallic gray (XF-56) then used black panel line accent and some dry brushed flat aluminum (XF-16) to provide some variation. I have to say in the pictures, the variation shows up more than it does in real life.
I also think the spark plug wires/tubes are a bit out of scale but will leave them for now. Funny thing is that in my stash I have both the Lotus 49 and the Lotus 78, which were also powered by the Ford/Cosworth DFV engine so I'll have two more chance to build pretty much the exact same engine, whenever I get around to doing those other two.

For the snow I used Vallejo white pigment sprinkled over a wet watered-down coat of white paint.

Thanks Ken. I'm going to give Doc Rob's suggestion a try and attempt to create a few icicles here and there. Never tried it before but have wanted to. Now's the time.
